We'll be driving down from Boston - starting Tuesday night and getting to Nashville Wednesday afternoon/night.
We'll be making a limited number of stops along the way, but trying to coordinate our stops with interesting things along the way. Any suggestions? Tourist attractions, famous restaurants/diners, lookouts/scenic views, etc

Which route are you taking? There's a Google Earth mashup of all the restaurants featured on Diner's Drive-In's and Dives that might yield good food for you. We looked but theres nothing on our route.
Also, if you are driving through Knoxville way, you may want to take a detour through the Smokey Mountains. It will take a few xtra hours but you'll see great natural scenary. Best for the return trip if you have time.
Finally, you should try to hit a Sonic -- we don't have them in New England and the burgers are gooooood.. Have a safe trip.
The Original Freezo in Old North Knoxville. Possibly the finest eating establishment of this or any generation
Also, I second the Smoky Mountains side-trip. There are several short trailheads right off of the main drag through the park that are worth the two or so hours for the round-trip hike. If you're looking for something more touristy in East TN, stop in Gatlinburg: tons of cheesy tourist attractions there.
Hike into Abrams Falls if if you go through the Smokies. I went over spring break and it's worth the hike. Really cool waterfall.

Great idea about Sonic -- I've been seeing those ads for years and wondering if the place even exists...definitely hitting one up at some point on the trip.
We're driving from Boston too and stopping by White Castle, Sonic, Joe's Crab Shack and Cici's Pizza - all the crap we don't have around here. Also, waffle houses are obviously a must! JUNK FOOD OVERLOAD. My tummeh aches just thinking about it. I am going with two pretty big dudes though, so I don't have much say in this. lol
I'll love to hear more about scenic stops or cool attractions, worlds biggest whatever's etc... anyone?

it's really not that much out of the way to go via cleveland and check out the rock and roll hall of fame. i think an hour, in total, tops.

Okay - do not --- DO NOT --- eat at White Castle. Our Northern bellies are not prepared for the onslaught. Seriously, you have to train for that kind of grease. Especially avoid the White Castle counters in roadside gas stations, unless you want to spend a day or two in the portos at Centeroo. Truly, I am just offering this advice as a Mom; I'd hate to see you sweating and miserable at the side of the road.
theres a Hungry Howies pizza in Chattanooga (East Ridge)......you can hit it from I75 or I24 and its literally 5 min either way.you can text the word "Hungry" to 74700 and stop in and show them the text on your phone and get a free junior one topping...when you stop in on your way to or from the roo,tell them Scott The Driver said "YEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH"!
