I'm flying in and trying to keep it as compact and easy as possible.
Does it make more sense to bring a camper's backpack or a suitcase? Anything else I should think of before going? I'm not bringing any food and I'll just have a water bottle with me. Is that enough? I know food is probably gonna be pricey, but is there anything else I should take into consideration?

campers backpack would be my choice and a lock for your tent (unless you are using a shuttle for the hotel) Food CAN be pricey but if you look around, you can find stuff pretty reasonable. It looks like rain on Thurs/Frid. so you may wanna bring some kinda poncho/rain jacket.

I'm bringing a duffle bag that can fit on my back like a backpack. That will load up my tent and everything I need. One checked bag = $15.. that's like a beer and a half at Roo!! can't afford 2 bags!

I'm going to bring a duffel bag or something. Not a real suitcase, definitely. I may even have to check 2 bags, I'm not sure - I'm going to be bringing sleeping bag and maybe rain boots plus clothes and a towel and a blanket and all the essentials. I'm flying Southwest so I don't have to pay to check bags so it won't matter too much if I have to check two.
im flying southwest for the third year so this bag check thing isnt an issue buti usally bring a small duffel on the plane with my clothes..a larger duffel with wheels where i stash snacks, powder juice. rainboots the pillow and sleeping bag adn my cooler as the second checked bag with fingers crossed will have the tent in it this year.i really think its a personal preference.. but i def would pick up at least trail mix or jerky to bring to offset the costs a little..safe travels and dont forget the gum to pop ur ears!
I'm going to be flying with my camping pack. So far that's all I have, I packed it up pretty good tonight, but its on the larger side so I think I may have to check it. Since I have my sleeping bag and tent hanging off of it I'm probably going to put the whole pack in a duffel bag to travel with, then keep the duffel folded up in my tent or something.

im debating about this also because i am flying in and taking the shuttle. i have a medium suitcase with air mattress/fan/clothes and other random stuff that i am going to check, and then hopefully i can bring my tent and 2 backpack chairs duct taped together as carry ons. praying this works so i dont get slammed with baggage charges!
