to run my 1500 BTU A/C for the pop-up camper but not having much luck. I have a 5000W available but worried about noise. If I can't find anything smaller and bring the 5000W, what are the possible situations? Is there a "generator police"? Is the 15KW primarily for tent campers since most RV's come with a generator?
Since you'll be in the RV area (I figure.... I mean, you're not getting that pop-up into GA) I don't think you need to worry about your generator noise. That's the trade off, right? You get the comforts of the RV/pop-up but also lose out on the 'camp' feel....
I'm bringing a Honda EU 1KW. It's super quiet. I'll be in GA and will run it only during the heat of the day for a box fan and battery charging.

Yeah, you should be fine about "generator police" there are none! position it so the sound blasts towards the noise of the other generators and off the walls of your camper(keep it close to you, if it is loud don't push it towards someone elses earshot and stick out what u brought on your own accord).
People run loud generator all the time there. I was surrounded by them last year. The best gen is the Honda 3000eu. It's quiet and easy on gas. Damn I wish I was going this year.
Gene, Thanks for the correction - it is a 13,500 BTU...Unfortunately, the 5 KW is contractor type so I'm still looking for something smaller and more quiet but having a hard time finding one. Any sugestions? I'm in Charleston, SC and dropping the kids off at Grandma's on Wednesday in Greenville, SC. I think I've got a line on a 3 KW but not sure if it's the inverter type.
Check at a rental type place or a Honda (generator) dealer. A dealer that sells new might also rent or know of a place to rent. If they do not have a EU series see if they have a EB series, they are just a touch louder.
Bring a chain and lock or rope lock to secure it to your camper.
Do you have a 30 Amp camper plug to 30 Amp twist lock adapter? Available where you purchase generators, RV dealer or camping world.
once AGAIN, I stand corrected...it is the EU 2000i but mentions 2500 Watt underneath the picture. It says the receptacle is 20 amp duplex, continuous Amps 13.3, Max/Cont. Watts 2000/1600.
Not sure about my adapter but pretty sure it's 30 amp. Can I get the appropriate adapter at an RV store or do you think the rental place might have one?
Is there a risk of damaging the AC? What are the cons...inconvenience of only running the A/C without anything else? As of now, this is looking like my only allernative unless I go with something much LOUDER which I really want to avoid if at all possible. Thanks for all your help!
You will need a 30 Amp (RV style) to 15 amp adapter to plug in your RV power cord into the Honda EU2000.
When you run the AC unit make sure everything else is off (toaster, coffee pot, hair dryer). Running the lights and water pump will be fine. Keep the refrigerator on LP gas, do not switch over to electric.
Made it to Greenville, SC and before leaving, I did get a chance to try the EU2000 with the camper. It worked pretty well and like you mentioned, the rental place said I shouldn't have a problem if I stick to running the A/C only. Man that thing HUMS! Can't wait to head out for Roo tomorrow morning. Thaks a lot for all your input. It's been very helpful and I'm sure the good Karma will come back at you.
