I need some advice if possible...can't get off work until 5:00 PM on Thursday and it's about a 6 hour drive to Roo..so, a few questions...
should we head out immediately and arrive around 11-12 Thursday night or should we just leave really early Friday and set up camp that morning?
Does anyone have any experience with setting up camp after dark?
Will our spot be any better or worse one way or the other?
Will tent only camping be filled up by midnight Thursday?
Every other year we've gone we have been able to get in early Thursday morning so this year will be a new adventure...I know I just asked a lot of questions but if anyone could help me out with any of them or has any experience with a situation like this or just has any input or feedback at all I would be greatly appreciative! ;D

Late Thursday has always been good for us. We head out of Jekyll Island, Ga around 4pm and arrive around 11pm with very little waiting in line on the interstate!
we are in the same boat.. our flight does not get in until thursdat night around 1130pm so we plan to just drive to a 24 hr wal mart then getting setup aorund 3am.... from what i have read anytime after 9pm u will be fine cuz most are gonna just wait till friday morning to camp so i think u and me are gonna be just fine!
thanks for the replies, guys!...I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one....charlie, if you're still around, how was your camping spot in the past years? Were you fairly close or out in BFE?
If anybody's still out there (at home or stuck in line): we aren't able to leave NC until probably close to lunch time Friday (son's graduating high school!) so that will likely put us at ROO hopefully as early as 6 or possibly later, what's the RV camping spots like then? Also, wondering if the car searches are more thorough since they have more time on their hands? What's the thoughts of those still lurking????

That is Sweetcharlie, not just any ordinary charlie! JK. In '07 we were in Darth Vader, not to shabby, about a 10 minute walk. At first we were a little bummed about being so close to family camping, but it turned out to be quite nice. In '05 we were in Darth Vader. Again, not to bad. About a 15 min. walk. This year we are leaving a couple of hours earlier in hopes to see some music tonight.
The volunteer searches are a little more than just a word or two if there's no other cars around. Last year, they did a little poking around, but nothing too insane. I had to tell the guy to look in my cooler. He was like "Oh, yeah." and he searched it a bit. I actually had a small helium tank to blow up balloons and I know one of them saw and it didn't say anything. It was cool. I'm pretty sure random police searches are only on Thursday, so you don't have to sweat much if you have some contraband.
