Was Hangout an on-site camping festival, or was it more like a series of day-long concerts? I'm no lawyer, and I don't know the legal details, but I can't imagine any competent attorney advising a multi-day on-site camping festival that free water is unnecessary.
Nope, it was just 12 hours of music each day. No one has to provide us with free water. Sure, it'd be nice, but it's not required.

Well I recall a certain festival in concrete hell that had lack of potable water for it's attendees *coughwoodstock99cough* but that a different can of worms.. I think they do a great job water wise... I just think the water trailers were more effective than the mushrooms

Pod 1 water had a horrible bad sulpher taste and smell. I could not stand to drink it, even when i was thirsty. I drank old cooler water before i would drink that shit.
That being said, every other pod that I tried (and i was wandering all throughout the campgrounds all weekend), and every sink and filtered water station inside centeroo had tap water tasting water that was amazing (esp compared to the sulpher stuff). The water pressure was ridiculously low at the filtered water stations. I waited over 30 minutes, just to get super hot and claustrophobic in line and was still 3 people back when i decided to leave and try another line. The sinks inside centeroo had more than adequate water pressure and the lines moved very quickly, even during peak times.
Sinks are the way to go, but they need to figure out the pod 1 situation for next year, so i dont have to walk forever from my campsite to get truly potable water.
Granted, I got forced (due to a situation which arose at the last minute) into doing Day Parking instead of camping, so I cannot speak to water in the camping areas. But my fiancee and I had absolutely zero problems with either the filtered stations or the trailers inside Centeroo. If anything, we gravitated to the trailers more often since the lines were sometimes crazy long at the filtered stations, but I honestly could not taste a difference between the two anyway.
As yfoogsittam said, the lines at the sinks did move very quickly, and I never had any problem with getting water to fill my two bottles. The only time I waited more than 5 minutes before getting to a sink was when I waited at one of the filtered stations, and in that instance, it did take a long time to get there, but once I did, filling up was no problem.

I went to woodstock 99 it was a bucket of fun! It was no Bonnaroo with the water situation. I spent a lot of loot just hydrating myself and eating Cheez-its. I was young & inexperienced I just took some money and shacked up with the guy that drove me there.

I really didn't want to start a new thread, so this question seems to fit best here even though the thread is a little old. Has anyone had luck with using any of the filtered water bottles at Bonnaroo? Last year I used the Clear2Go bottle and it filtered out the sulfur smell and tasted pretty good, but was pretty hard to drink out of. I use a Camelbak Groove at home, but think it only filters for taste and not impurities. I really dislike the sulfur smell and find that I drink less water when I don't use something to filter that out. Last year the filtration was better and more plentiful but it also wasn't very hot, so people were likely drinking less. Have any of you had success with any products in particular?
I just use the filtered water stations in Centeroo to fill up my hydropack and have a few back up bottles at camp. No sulfur taste their! Sure the lines can sometimes suck and the lack of water pressure can definitely be an issue, but it's free. I usually plan ahead and make sure I'm all topped off if I plan to catch a solid block of shows and avoid the lines.
This is probably your best bet for a permanent camelbak solution. Pros, it filters and kills most things. Cons, it is not the best on the market, and you need to cut into your hose. REI is always a good place to start. For reference Katadyn is the best in the market for water filtration.
We are coming in a truck and i plan on bringing a five gallon jug to fill up at a water mill in tennessee once we get in state. That should solve my drinking water problems. Does that seem unreasonable?

Seems reasonable to me. I have seen a lot of people bring those collapsible containers. Those seem handy

I'm not big on camelbaks. I think they can get very gross. 4 days in the sun, various contaminants and not being able to wash them properly is not my gig. I go to a lot of concerts and always just bring a small pack with a bunch of sealed water bottles. It might be a little heavy at first but it gets better as the day goes by. Not much worse than a camelbak.
As far as water at camp. A 2.5 gallon jug at any major supermarket will run you under $2.
