Just let me say this- by owning slaves, slave owners aren't committing "racism". Every slave owner needs workers. You've seen it in the cotton fields plenty of times. Slave owner goes to the market, finds strong slave fresh off the boat, buys him. That's perfectly legal. Look up the definitions of racism before you start accusing. The slave owners who work their slaves to death aren't there to kill your buzz or ruin your good time. They're there to provide cheap agriculture and to make it easier for everyone else to have fun and not work in the hot fields. Sorry guys, but OWNING SLAVES is LEGAL. We sometimes forget that Plantations aren't outside the law.
Bring back any memories?
I REALLY hate when stuffy folk pull the "it's illegal" argument. The laws are clearly wrong. I'm not one to trust anyone's judgment but my own.

Wow. Did you really just compare folks getting busted for druqs to people owning slaves? If so, you're a shallow and terrible person.
Hahahaha
I realize that there are some good cops, and they do provide some amount of protection (although I would prefer my own dogs and guns to police), but they are certainly not some innocent group of nice people. Lets not forget that even at the moment of arrest, in the eyes of the law that arrested suspect is still innocent!!

...entrapment is when a police officer tries to convince you to do something illegal, not just when he offers you the opportunity. if he says "wanna buy some pot" then it's not entrapment. if you say "no" and he persists, saying "i'll hook it up fat, it's good, come on dude" then you're getting into the entrapment area.
Anyway, your argument fell apart at the "look up the definition of racism" line because enslaving people based on race is racist, whereas offering to sell drugs is not entrapment.
So you see, not only are you being terribly insensitive and cold by drawing that comparison, but the two situations are not even parallels because one argument is valid and the other is invalid.

so the cops can break the law in order to catch people breaking the law?
that sucks big time for your friend. but now I know not to even mention it to people in a phish lot lol.

It scares me to go to a phish show. I know there are always undercovers at most shows, but Phish always seemed so open to me. The good old days have passed.

so if your friend didn't have any smoke, i wonder if the cop would've still busted him for buying a ticket??

Is that really the law? That you're allowed to be a ticket scalper as long as you don't sell it for face value? That doesn't seem right. So it would be legal for me to sell a $50 ticket for $49? I don't see how selling it for under face value makes a difference.....can you clear this up?
Is it a state law or a national law? I've never heard of this

No, that's absolutely correct. Why on earth couldn't you re-sell something that was legally yours (i.e. a ticket you purchased) for face or even below face value?
There isn't any federal statute that I've ever found dealing with ticket scalping directly, but as far as I'm aware the whole point of enforcement is to prevent incentive for the secondary market, i.e. scalpers buying up all the tickets and then selling them for their own profit. That's actually the basis of the law suit being brought against TicketMaster right now, that they essentially do that through their "ticket broker" agency TicketsNow.
In fact, in the state I live in, it's legal to resell a ticket for face value and up to 20% extra, meaning that if you have a ticket that you purchased for $50, you could sell it for $60 and be okay.
That's crazy. I thought the whole scalping thing was about re-selling tickets in general......but I guess it makes sense what you're saying (why not re-sell your property for less than you paid). I didn't doubt it......I just never heard/realized that was allowed. I always just assumed that re-selling tickets was a no no.

Stuffy?
The next time someone tries to hurt you or your family, don't call the police. Call those drug dealers and dopers that you admire so much. I'm sure that they're the ones who care about you, right?
if someone tried to hurt me or my family and I called the police, what do you think would really happen?
the police would come, I would tell them the story, and the perp would MAYBE go to jail for a few nights tops.
now, if I were to call my 'dealer' or one of my 'doper' pals and offered them some minute amount of money to take care of the problem. that so called perp would probably get the shit kicked out of him and the problem would be solved.
which one is more effective? which one is cheaper?
PS-I HATE the word 'dope' and 'doper', i mean why aren't our grandparents called dopers? they eat a helluva lot more drugs than I ever have.
PSS-I dont know where you think people get drugs from, but most people I know get their stuff from trusted friends/acquaintances. Not everyone selling druqs is a crackhead pusher
