Yikes, we never used the arch entrance, just the one on the side (I guess the ferris wheel entrance?) and I only saw one longish line, but right as we walked up, they let everyone flood the gates, so it was no big deal. However, the one time I went through without any purse or bag, the guy patted me down which was pretty uncomfortable, and my bf made a comment about him grabbing my ass, but other than that no problems.

Avoid the Arc. We went in the side what entrance and other side entrance and I only waited 3 mins. at most. I've had the most problems from the Arc one in the past so i avoided it like a plague. Best way to be.

in reference to the posts midway down on the first page about only having two water bottles a person, thats crazy. ive never heard of that, and after about midday friday every time we went into centeroo my friend had a bookbag that was full of nothing but water bottles and no one ever said a single thing to us. thats weird that they said that was a rule to you guys
these were the worst searches out of my 3 roos. saturday we noticed the same people working also so we asked if they were volunteering and they told us they were paid security...which made some more sense. they were far too thorough though...you don't need to open every pack of cigs, unfold ponchos, look in each and every pocket of a backpack for every person. they were ridiculous.
we had a "marine sergeant" when going in through the ferris wheel enterance one time. only he was encouraging his people to check more. overall i'd say the wait to get into centeroo was way more stressful and ridiculous than any other year i've been (06 & 07)
agreed the lines totally sucked this year. No question that the search was far more thorough this year than last and certainly '06. I saw people having their ciggerette packs looked into and things being pulled out of them. At least three times I was confronted about my pipe...I mean please there are 35,000 pipes inside Centeroo at any given moment lay off the pipe one time he was not going to let me through with it said I could keep the green just not the pipe no way was i giving it up I just faded back and went to another guy...got it in.
Sun. a guy I 'd gone to at least 4 times throughout the weekend radared right in on my lower cargo pocket of my shorts and felt the little chocolate goodie I was holding on to for Phish's closer..actually took it out and even opened it up I said something like its just a piece of chocolate I get low blood sugar ;D he said "looks like there is more than just chocolate in there" I mean c'mon who gives a fuck? We all know whats in there just let it go why bother with it? same with the green and pipes let them go...worry about the important stuff stop being so petty. He did let me keep the chocolate by the way
I don't care what you say about me, just spell my name right---P.T. Barnum "As I was walking up the stairs I met a man who wasn't there He wasn't there again today I wish to God he'd go away."
every year i've gone ('05-'09) there has been staff that look through and open up people's cigarettes. I don't think that's a new thing.
It's not.
This is the first year I felt confident bringing in beer to centeroo. Hell I got one in with one in each of my back pockets a couple of times. I took EVERYTHING (except beer) out of my pockets and held it in my hands before I got there and the most they ever did was check my waistband and pat my cargo pockets. They only looked in my cig pack once, but I never put anything in there anymore after I got stuff taken away in 06.

was 50/50 for me. everytime i went through with my bag open, but sometimes it would get searched and other times we were just waved through without a search.

Had my bag open on most trips and my stuff in my hand, never got more than a glance in my bag and a hand down it. On thursday I forgot that i'd thrown a small shave-kit bag in there loaded down with over the counter pills and visine... things like that, the guy opened it and gave me this "you've got to be kidding" look, I was like "Sht I forgot that was in there" he closed it and sent me on my way, there was even a pocket knife in it.
i only got searched twice the entire weekend, once on thursday afternoon when the lines were short and once on saturday night right before nine inch nails. every other time we went into centeroo the lines were getting so long that they just opened up the gates and let the good people through
No line of more than 10 minutes for me, and no searches beyond a light pat-down. I even went in with a Solo cup full of whiskey held in my teeth EVERY single time, and no one ever said anything about it. I used the side entrance by the Ferris Wheel because it always seemed less crowded and to have less intense security.
"We're no longer called Sonic Death Monkey. We're on the verge of becoming Kathleen Turner Overdrive, but just for tonight, we are Barry Jive and his Uptown Five. "
I usually used the entrance by the ferris wheel, and don't recall any long lines or waits. Not compared to what I've seen in some other years.
I only had one thorough search the entire weekend. I was returning to Centeroo around 5:30am at the ferris wheel entrance (during moe.) after I'd gone back to camp and realized my phone was missing. There were two security guys with nobody else in line. One of them gave me a quick, light tap with his fist just below my belt buckle. I would've been a lot more OK with that search if he had said something about it before he actually did it. I don't care how soft it is - a fist that close to the family jewels without warning isn't cool.
i only had to wait in long lines whenever i waited until the last minute to leave camp and see someone i was really excited about... and i was also in bfe pod 1. The what stage entrance was a godsend. the security there pretty much just looked in the top of my backpack and patted my pockets every time i went thru. one time a guy didnt even look in the backpack, just felt the bottom and sent me on. pretty sure i could have snuck in any form of corn apparatus i wanted at that gate.

Every time we saw a giant line we just went to the other entrance and got in in less than 10 minutes. One time the line for the side entrance (near the ferris wheel) was so long it backed up to the arches. We said f that and went up to the arches and got in almost instantly. It confused the shit out of me.
I used the arc entrance every time and never waited more than 10 minutes. The searches weren't bad for me either. The guys just peaked into my bag, didn't move anything around, and let me in right away.

I always had my camelbak on backwards (bag part facing front towards the security guards) pockets emptied in my hands. I believe maybe once, they actually stuck their hands in my pack. Got my DSLR in every day. The one time they actually put their hands in, they found a 5 hour energy shot and took that. I just kind of gave him the "really?!" look. He said he was sorry. Be nice to them and they'll be nice to you.

Always had my corn and pipe tucked away in my under-layer, never had a problem with that. Never got hassled much, though I did see someone in front of me get busted with something at one point, they dragged him off for a stern talking-to or worse. Always approached with most of my pocket contents in my hands and was polite. Never had any trouble. Longest wait was under 10 minutes, got through at least twice in a wave of people that they just let go in. Smuggled a few beers in once, put them in the bottom of a backpack, they just peeked in and saw water.

Oh yeah, I only used the Arch entrance.
^^^ this basically sums up my experience. Never had any problems, always had the bag open for them to check and I always emptied my pockets. Got in without any trouble and always had a great time.
Saturday morning before Jimmy Buffet was long as hell. We miss a lot of his set because they took so long. After we started yelling and chanting some staff guy came over and told them to let us in and it was like a flood gate.
I was chanting with ya! "Let us in!" then the cheering that happened when they opened the gates and let us go!
