I know many of you witnessed some very cool lasers at Bonnaroo. They were the ones that split into hundreds of tiny points that you could then play around with and make starburst patterns with. Also, when the head was taken off, it made a STRONG green beam that could be seen in the sky for miles, and when shined over a large crowd at a large concert, everyone waved their hands just to touch it. I was playing with my laser at multiple shows, so perhaps some of you saw me. I was at the NIN show, the girl talk show inside the stage area, the Mars Volta show, both Phish shows, and a couple more with it. I had probably the brightest one at most of these shows, because I constantly stocked it with batteries, so if you saw someone shining it directly over the crowd, chances are it was me a bunch of those times. Others had it too, and to all of you with them already, THANKS! We made some cool designs above the stages at times.
Now to spill the secret as to where to find these gems:
I didn't care for all the 'chasing lasers' above the bands heads'/on the what which signs. I thought it took away from the professional light shows. On the other side though, when that dude in the l.e.d. suit was shining a green laser into the sky at Sun Phish.... it was really freakin cool looking....

Pointing that thing at the ground in kaleidoscope mode where a thick crowd is standing is very disorienting. I saw this at Phish, Sunday, and almost freaked.

I had my green star laser the whole time. If anybody saw the larger circles and shapes in the trees and in the tent during MGMT and Yeasayer, that was me.
I just wasn't sure if the laser amused people or bothered them so I'd try to keep it at a minimum, but it was fun to interact with other people at the top of the stage at Phish Sunday night. Having one of the those lasers probably made me about 25 friends over the weekend though, definately a great ice-breaker.

OMG thank you so much for sharing this! jhointn and I were going crazy over those things, we wanted them so bad but we had no idea how we were going to find them for next year! We were like "what the hell are we gonna google? 'green flashlight laser thing that makes these little sparkly patterns go all over everything and its really cool'?"

Haha, that was my biggest problem too! "WTF DO I GOOGLE!?"
For some time I didn't even know it was a laser pen, I thought it may have been like LEDs or something.
But yeah, it was fantastic. To the guy who was talking about playing at the Phish show with them, I'm sure our lasers interacted And same here, it made me about 25 friends too. I went to random trip circles and gave them shows, they seemed to enjoy it.
The laser pointers were really smurfing annoying this year.
See, I was afraid that might be some people's reactions to it. I'd try to shine it around in the crowd and most people would get really into it, usually those under the influence, but some people would tell me to cut it out. I think it can add a whole new element to enjoying the shows, just creating your own light show for you and the people around you, but I guess I could see how that might be too much for some people.

Yeah. For a while I stuck with the close range patterns. I didn't throw it up on the stage too often, but I did throw it into the sky and over the crowd a few times, and people seemed to enjoy it. Popping long range bubbles with it was pretty cool

someone had one of these RIGHT behind me at the sunday show, the guy with a suit of changing colored lights if anyone saw that guy. that thing was incredibly strong.
On the other side though, when that dude in the l.e.d. suit was shining a green laser into the sky at Sun Phish.... it was really freakin cool looking....
Thanks for the heads up on were to get these things they were a lot of fun at times. Also, if it was one of you thank you for the letting us dance around your laser thing for the Bruce show it made it so much more fun. Oh and thank you goes out to the guy at the same show who gave me their 3D glasses to look through. It was wild i tell you. Ha ha
People who point lasers at the stage suck, imho. At outside shows like roo it's much less annoying (shining into the sky is cool, for example), but at inside shows there are particularly annoying -a real vibe killer.

^^I 100% agree. People who shine the lasers at the top of the stage are by far my least favorite people in the audience. The band pays a light tech for a reason, and it isn't for you to wiggle your little green dot above the band while they play.
But I do enjoy wandering around the farm and seeing them spraying patterns on the ground or up into the sky. So long as they stay away from the stage then I'm all for them

The trio of these lasers during MGMT mesmerized me. it definitely upped the trip level a few notches, haha. The only time they annoyed me was when they would just jiggle them above the stage though, that was just distracting. but whenever they were on the ceiling of a tent rotating i felt like it only enhanced the show
