So we arrive thru the back entrance around 8pm Thursday night and sit through an hour and a half of the security line only for it to start downpouring as we were directed in to camp Clark Griswold. Dude is pulling cars in not giving a nuts about making a proper row as he should. In fact it wasn't just him, but the others directing cards were yelling at everyone too. I was with two 5 year veterans and they were pissed beyond belief, I was just so confused about what was going on. I think they were just in a pissy mood because they had to direct traffic in the rain. Anyways, we ended up being stuck next to 6 guys who did nothing but drink and do blow from 8am-6pm until they left for a show and came back at 4am, drank more and kept us all awake. But that is a separate issue. Anyways, just wondered if anyone else got the shaft in Clark Griswald? The whole camp was an effing mess. There was not a single path to get out of the camp and we had to wade through seas of poorly staked tents and I know that several people fell into others tents during the weekend. What a nutsy job, parking dude.
My boyfriend and I got in around 2am friday morning, pod 8, and decided to do some roaming around. When we got to Clark Griswold, we couldn't believe the way they sandwiched all the tents in. We couldn't even figure out how to walk out of there. I just assumed that was where they put everyone that showed up too early.
I feel for ya, dude. Hopefully you didn't let blow-hole neighbors and crazy tent-claustrophobia ruin your roo.
They were putting the people that came through the west tollbooths at around 11pm. I went to the tollbooths to meet my family that had been in line for about 9 hours. When they were a few cars from the toll I jumped in the car with them. They tried directing us to the Griswald camps. At that point I was forced to use my staff shirt and bracelet and make them open up Bushy Branch so that we could get to family camp. There is no way I was going to make my kids take that walk everyday.

9 hours is crazy. We were parked in camp Thunderlips and it was a mess too. Not as bad as Griswald sounds, but there was not enough room for people to camp. We hoofed it to tent only and that is complete chaos. We got there round 4pm and barely found a spot.

Not in Griswald, however when we got to Darth Vader at around 11am on Thursday the parking staff were all CLUELESS. They kept only letting 2 cars a time in, then they'd let 20 in and F it up. As soon as they parked us, the supervisor went completely apeshit on the staff and finally 10 minutes later, they pretty much gave up and left Darth Vader pretty much only 35% full.
Made it so easy to get out Sunday. After we packed up, we were from campsite to I-24 in 15 Minutes!

Yep we were in Griswold we got through the line finally at 9 pm Thursday and they parked us in-between some younger kids who thankfully were fairly quiet after 3 am but one set of kids had like 10 tents and they had no idea how to set them up so this caused major space issues. It was impossible to walk around that area. So I agree it wasn't the best situation and the sandwiching was pretty unfortunate.
We were in Clark Griswold this year... Got in at around 12:00am after about 12 hrs in line. We were the last cars in the first (left most) row, next to the road and closest to the portos and food stands. More or less, at the very extreme left tip of Clark Griswold.
Wondering if anyone saw us... Gigantic M.A.S.H. style green tent, a few smaller eurika tents & gold Cadillac CTS & other cars parked to forma a fence....
And yeah, it was kind of a shitshow trying to pull in/park... we kind of took matters into our own hands once we realized the guy directing had no apparent plan on how to park people.
tatphishgirl - were you the one who gave us the delicious cookies?? i feel like you said you were from wisconsin. we had the redskins canopy, just me and my two married friends.
ANSWA9000 - totally saw your tent dude. i feel for ya having to be in the mud pit by the horse shit smelling johns. one of the staff told us they only cleaned ours once a day, at 5pm, which sucked

Yeah.....here's a gigantic F U C K Y O U to the people responsible for Clark Griswold. I don't mind getting parked far away as I do Tent Only every year, but after the 10 hour wait in line only to get completely screwed with the parking and space situation.....ugh. We were lucky enough to be parked paralell to the road so that we could just cross the barbed wire fence, but once it was time to leave and I got a good look at how things were set up.....wow.
I will from here on out be one of the Wal-Mart dwellers lining up on Wednesday night to get in to try to avaoid that crap.

I was in Clark Griswold in 06 which is what convinced me to go VIP in 07 and 08. They had us sardined in there that year also, and the staff were peniscraniums too. I dunno what it is about that side of the camp, it just never works out quite right for anyone. To add insult to injury, you have to walk past the poop truck storage to get anywhere else. That's about 30 yards of holding your breath or smelling it. This year I was in Luke Skywalker, got to the farm about 4pm on thursday, the staff were superchill and gave us all plenty of space.

MY crew and the neighbors that we waited in line with were the first 20 cars in griswold on the far back wall by the trees and the barn. We got in line on highway 41 @ around 11:25 am and waited about 8.5 hours in line. Getting parked that far away sucked ass, but our neighbors were cool, and since we were the first cars on the outer edge we had tons of space toward the trees.
I did try and make the walk through the grounds once which sucked ass, but we quickly realized that there was a gate that took us directly to our campsite if you walked all the way down the road and made a right by the portos and the ice stand. I will add that the portos at the end were some of the cleanest ones all weekend.
All in all, the 20 minute walk sucked, and Thursday was virtually nonexistant due to spending all day in line. It did screw up my show planning since you had to be completely prepared for the day, and I wasnt able to spend time charging my phone, so it died all Friday.
I am sure it was worse for some of yall, the walk was my biggest complaint. The other 2 years we were a 5-10 minute walk from centeroo and never had to wait longer than 4 hours in line.
Our campsite had a Texas flag and the 10x20 carport if anyone was on the back of griswold.

this was my exact experience...
i think i must have been lucky in that i had lots of space and was closest to the driving lane that disects the camp... it def sucked to wait in line so long only to have a such a long wait... and i missed a ton of shows thursday...
luckily Delta Spirit was rescheduled and i was able to make it...
