one persons joy is another persons ire. I say let your Roo flag fly. I do and the people i work with just ignore me now. I even listen to radio bonnaroo in the office.

I wish I could listen to radio bonnaroo....but we don't have speakers on our friggin computers here at work. So all I can do is listen to my local alternative rock station on this sh*tty boombox, slack away here on Inforoo...and count down the days.

I'm using the last 20 posts feature
thats what i do most all of the time but you goofs and your 3 word story or whatever that is, dominates the top 20 .. ya, i am not suppose to surf at work except during lunch, but guess what, the person that runs the reports and does the monitoring of everyone surfing at my work is .......................... me ... cr****
We have another guy who occasionally needs data on a particular persons surfing habits, but he is incapable of using linux so he'll never see all of my roo surfing..

I really don't take into consideration if I"m being monitored when I'm on here. I just play the "ignorance is bliss" card. I've been doing this for about two years though now, so apparently no one is noticing.

Man, my lack of productivity is getting ridiculous. I scan a lot of documents into a program, though, so I look at inforoo when I have a bunch of documents going through the scanner. I can only imagine how much worse it's going to get when it gets closer!
I have a USB pedal under my desk. If the boss comes a knocking I press the pedal and it hides meebo and inforoo I'm usually doing something productive on my other monitor anyway though

honestly? I.T. dudes don't have the damn time to check up on you, we're too busy either slacking or doing other more important things.
I do, however, check for hate sites and pr0n sites.. besides that I really don't give a nuts.
they are kind of strict here like i said, do you allow email access then .... wow that is really pushing it .... part of the job i hate is sending a report on someone who is not doing anything wrong in my mind knowing this is just "another brick in the wall" for them to send him/her out the door ... i can delete anyones history but it is my job i guess so i never do that .... well i did do it yesterday to test something .. had to delete my history ;D ... we only keep it 45 days ... cr****
No one's ever mentioned that they monitor the internet at my workplace. I know they have a filter type of service on the e-mail, but they don't seem to look at browsing histories.
Yeah, now I'm super paranoid. Not looking at anything bad. Just wasting time on non-work pursuits. Although I will say it's not much to take two days off in my week and still get all my work done.
We treat mishaps like sinking ships and I know that I don't want to be out to drift Well I can see it in your eyes like I taste your lips and They both tell me that we're better than this
We allow external e-mail, we have a lot of folks who are consultants and need to e-mail their own companies.. as long as the work is getting done it isnt a problem... if i catch someone pr0ning or looking at hate sites though, bye bye.

Thanks a lot!
best way to find out is to just ask the I.T. staff what they care about If you work for a smaller company they probably don't even have a monitoring solution, they can be verrrry expensive
haha....yeah I do the same. The wonders of having two monitors. Although I don't know about that usb switch. what does it do?
You program in the programs you want into a thing called HideItNow which came with the pedal.. tap it once to hide, 3 times to unhide(you can configure how many taps, too, or set a password)
well, the it guy is basically my boss. he also manages a lot of other print-company related crap so unless he isn't sleeping, he's not looking through logs. He knows I occasionally have iChat up (easier than phone calls on long days), and hasn't said anything prohibitive about it. So, maybe no reason to be paranoid. Hell. Earlier this week he took the time to e-mail me the "My Hands are Bananas" vid from youtube.
But still, want to stay ahead of the "game," y'know.
I am just discovering this 20 recent posts dealy. NICE.

every state and every company is different i would expect, but in colorado and our business, we had to post it online, and in the employee hand book, stating that we monitor every site and times you go to the internet (well also the phones) ... i think like wooz said, ask your IT people, i think they have to tell you but not sure of course ... cr**** and the 20 post is the way to go for sure, but you do miss a lot ....

that's crazy...haha....the things people come up with....haha.....being productive just so they can not be productive haha.
