I may have that in reverse order, but did anyone else return to this area to find this had happened? A bit confusing in the state I was in!
Pod 9 balloon was missing, never saw it. On returning to my tent Friday afternoon, I overheard a couple guys talking with one of the volunteer staff. They were asking where was the pod 9 balloon? I told the group the balloon was missing, and the medical pod, showers, etc. were unmarked. The staff guy said, "we'll have to get that fixed right away." Within a couple hours a pod 11 balloon was raised where the pod 9 balloon should have been.

perhaps that was the glowing thing I saw flying away one night. I must have spent 10-15 minutes staring at it, trying to figure out what the hell it was

Oh dude I saw that too! I don't remember much about it but you saying that just reminded me, I definitely saw some unidentifiable object flying away from the farm. I was going crazy trying to figure out what it was!
the glowing thing was a ballon that someone let go of at the main stage... i watched it until it gone.. i was waiting for it to pop and come back down... but it never did...

i never saw the pod 9 balloon, and i was in pod 9...little confusing. i DID see the pod 10 balloon laying sadly on the ground on friday morning, and at some point the pod 11 balloon was raised for the rest of the weekend.
i could see the pod balloon from my campsite. walk to it in like 15ft. it was a 9 on thursday. switched to a 10 on friday and then 11 the rest of the weekend.
i was confussed being a first timer. but did anyone else notice if they looked on the map in the booklet, only pod 9 and 8 were located on there? made it hard for someone wanting to really explore them all.

I'm starting to wonder if the vendors camping on private property around pod 9 were responsible for sabotaging the balloons? I witnessed a run in with the vendors, who were quite adamant about preventing festival attendees from trespassing on "their" property. The pod 9 balloon(s) that kept failing were immediately adjacent to the vendors' little private sanctuary.

i wish i could have seen these vendors. i was right in front of the portos the balloon was diagonal to my right hand side.
The private residences on Bushy Branch Rd were renting space in their yards to vendors along the state road. These residences were also renting an exclusive camping area to vendors in their side and backyards. The vendors had their own portajohns, showers, etc. They got quite miffed when Bonnarooers trespassed into their little kingdom.
I saw some barbed wire fencing cut, probably by Bonnarooers for quicker access to the road and pod. I actually witnessed a Bonnaroo camper get punched in the neck by a man defending the vendor territory.
Working in the PODs, this was really confusing. Apperantly POD 9 had been without a balloon for a while. I was there when they radioed Matthew about it. THey couldn't inflate balloon 10 so they had to go with balloon 11.
Alot of shit happened behind the scenes and made Bonnaroo 2009 that much more interesting.
