The House of Blues in Boston is great as well - still fairly small (capacity 2,500) and gets some pretty big names. I haven't got my tickets for either one yet, but there are two shows in the fall that I'm really hoping to go to - #1 Porcupine Tree, and #2 The Psychedelic Furs/Happy Mondays.
the new Boston HoB is a really nice venue, I agree.
Best venue ever - Red Rocks.
Indoor venue - hrm, that Nokia in Times Square is pretty amazing.
I do a lot of traveling for shows, too, and I'd have to say that as of right now, my favorites are The Pabst in Milwaukee and The Granada in Dallas. Outdoors, I love Wolf Trap in VA.
Sass, have you been to The Palladium in Dallas? I think I like it over the Granada...but I may be biased since that is where I saw MMJ on the front row and got Jim James sweat on me. I think if you get too close to the front at The Granada the sound can be a bit shoddy...but I love the set-up and its so laid back.
