So all last minute I am going to Atlanta this weekend. Sasha and Digweed Tomorrow night, then moe and Ratdog on Sat. Anyone else going to any of this? If so PM me and we will meet for a beer or something.
Will be at moe., Ratdog, and P-groove tomorrow. Have a ball with Sasha and Digweed. I'm very curious to hear about that venue. It's in a very random location.
That was a fun time, the venue was great, and it ran until 6 in the morning. We are going to go to Ratdog and .moe later probably going to miss part of moe though.
That was a pretty crazy venue, it was over in a bad part of town by a burlington coat factory. That being said it was a great club on the inside, my only issue was no way to go outside and smoke, so it got a little funky after awhile.

Wasn't it at the Masquerade? I used to live less than a mile from there! I was on the Midtown side though, not the scary side (edit: although, even on the Midtown side, it could be scary sometimes, which is a big part of why we moved). I didn't even know there was a Burlington Coat Factory over there.
man just saw this, i was at Ratdog on saturday. hope you had a good time! those staff dudes must be smokin good this week judging by everything they confiscated.

Ratdog was at the Masquerade, Sasha and Digweed were at club dreamz near some strip mall off of Clairborne.
^I guess so, I have not been hassled in years. I think it is because of getting older, on the other hand while I do not look like a wook, I do have long hair and a beard so you would think I would occasionally be profiled.
^Jerkstores!!! I only went on Saturday, I barely got a patdown. Though the guy checking ID's swore he sold me mine though, and that it was a fake. However after we all had TN licenses he agreed that he may have been wrong.
question for anyone from atlanta or anyone that knows their way around atl pretty well. aug. 14 and 15 we are staying in atl. going to see incubus on the 14 and mccartney on the 15. we have a hotel on peachtree. i know we can take marta to the mccartney show in piedmont park. but is there any public transportation that would take us to alpharetta and back? to the new verizon wirless ampitheater. or is taxi probably the only way? if we don't want to drive. how much would a taxi run us?
We stayed in Midtown at the Residence inn on Peachtree, it was pretty close to the Marta station, but if you are going to go that route make sure you get your schedule planned out in advance it was too confusing to try and wing it after we got there. As far as Alpharetta goes my buddy lives there, and said it took him 30 minutes to our hotel, so I would plan on at least 60-75 dollars for a cab ride there and back.

oh man. screw that. i would rather deal with driving.

^Yeah, I don't think there is any public transportation to the Verizon Amphitheatre, unless you want to take a bus, which would end up taking a really long time assuming the bus service even goes close to the amphitheatre. Which Peachtree is your hotel on? I live near Peachtree Road in Brookhaven (near Buckhead), and it's about a 17 mile drive from my house to the Amphitheatre. Not sure how that equates to the cost of the taxi, though.

peachtree st. right across from the fox. i found a taxi fare calculator and wolfman was right, over $60 one way. so that's not happening.

Bummer. What about taking Marta up closer to the amphitheatre and then taking a cab from the station to the theatre? It looks like it's only about 10 miles from the Sandy Springs station to Verizon.
Don't know how much of a walker you are, but if you are staying across from the Fox, you don't necessarily even need to take Marta to Piedmont Park. It's just a little over a mile from there. When we lived in Midtown, we were a block from the Fox, and we walked to the park all the time.
My parents live really close to there, and I grew up here, and I'm almost positive that the MARTA bus will actually drop you off at the amphitheater. If not that, then I know that they will take you at least within walking distance. It may take a little time, but it would be a fun adventure.
Edit: The venue has a strange parking situation in that the majority of it is down the street and across the way, so they have shuttles from the lots to the venue, and I'm sure you could get on one of those if you get up there. Good luck, and have fun!!

i will check into marta + cab and see if that's plausible or not. we probably could walk to the park from our hotel, but i doubt we will.

are you talking about the old lakewood ampitheatre? i know they have a shuttle for that. the verizon wireless is new and i don't see anything listed about them having a shuttle for it.

I think she was just saying there are shuttles from the parking lots to the venue. Verizon has one lot that is off site (Lot N), and they provide a shuttle. (Lakewood has shuttles that go to and from Marta, but not to and from the parking lots.)

oh ok. i'm in lot A at verizon. have you been to a show there yet? how is it?
I have; I saw STP there last year, and I really like the venue. If you've ever been to the Verizon venue in Charlotte, you can tell they were designed the exact same way, but ours has more trees, which is nice. The cop presence is a bit much, so be careful if you partake in anything. Also, you are not allowed to smoke cigarettes in the venue (I actually can't remember if there is a designated smoking area.....we were just very careful and sneaky with everything), and as soon as you light one up, there will be an officer there to make you put it out.
Also I am in Alpharetta house sitting all week so I will keep an eye out while I'm driving around and look for the closest MARTA stop. I know there are stops all around the Mall and all through Alpharetta so you can definitely make MARTA work out for you. As far as the shuttles, you probably don't even need to worry about that, but I was just saying if you got on a bus that took you to or near that lot (lot N, I guess, according to NBF), then you could hop on the shuttle and get there that way. Like I said, I'll be driving around the area, and I will try to find the closest bus stop for you.
