Farm Aid 2009 will be held at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Maryland Heights, Missouri on October 4, 2009.
The full lineup for Farm Aid 2009 will be announced over the coming weeks. Already confirmed to perform will be Farm Aid board members Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp, and Dave Matthews.
Sounds good so far. I'd like to go to ANY other festival besides Bonnaroo.....but I can't afford to do anything How do you people do it? I could possibly scrape together for VooDoo if I stay with friends but that is even questionable. I'm tired of being poor, I need to hurry up and finish school.

I was a street teamer for Bonnaroo, so I got a free ticket. Everything else about broke me though. I'm only doing two days of Lolla, so the tickets are cheaper. Plus I'm crashing on a friend's couch who lives near the west loop. Now, for Farm Aid, I need a hotel (I don't know anyone in or near St. Louis any more) and a ticket. But I have a few months to save and I know I can get people to share a room with me. The more the merrier!
As for Voodoo, it's too far for me at that time of year (college football season...I work like a dog). I'd like to do the 3-day Phish Phest (depending on the location).

THIS
Yes this. I finish in December so I will be happy when I figure out what out I'm doing. This year I went nuts and bought tickets for White Sox (South sider, well NW Indiana, but close enough), Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza (got a 3 day for 160 through the Lolla message board), Dead Weather, Dave Matthews Band, No Doubt and Paramore, and the Pixies (will be announced soon). I only bought that much though because its the last time I think I will find myself really excited for summer. Now I have to save money for the rest of the year in preparation of moving out. I make about $1200 after taxes a month and live at home and have just enough. My hats off to those who live on their own on money like that and make it happen.
So the Dave Matthews Band website has Farm Aid listed as a "Dave and Tim" show PLUS the Farm Aid site has added some bands. The lineup thus far looks like this:
Willie Nelson & Friends Neil Young John Mellencamp Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds Jason Mraz Wilco Jamey Johnson Phosphorescent

Willie=meh for me Neil Young would be amazing Mellencamp=I'd rather stick needles in my eyes. Dave and Tim=I'd def like to see again. I hadn't read anything about it being a Dave and Tim show.I went a few years back when it was at Deer Creek and it was Dave solo with someone playing a harp for a few songs. Jason Mraz=see him before and wouldn't pay to see him again Wilco=I'd like to catch because I keep seeing other bands instead of them.
It's close for me but I don't think it's worth the drive.

so anyone got any info on the lineup? it still says more to be added and it has said that for a while now. we are only a week +some days left. just kind of excited about who else will be there? anyone else gone to this before? how long are the setlists usualy? it shows the gates open at like 12-1230 till 10pm does that mean the show will start at 12-1230?
I went several years ago when it was in Columbus at the Polaris Ampitheatre and have streamed it nearly every year.
Although it is subject to vary year by year due to venue logistics, i'd expect bands to start fairly promptly and play about 45 minutes to an hour each. They have been getting more and more organized year by year. Still, don't expect your typical festy scene as far as them having things totally prepped for. Vending has also gotten better in the past several years. It only took them how long to figure out that people in attendance might like some family farmed food ?!?! In the past, they have played commercials and interviews during the sometimes overwhelming pauses in between acts.
The four "headliners" will play slightly longer sets. Expect Willie to sit in with a few of the acts-he usually does.
I'd give the experience I had 3 out of 5 stars, but I'd expect to have a little better time than that nowadays as they have been getting better and better about the experience they provide. In the early days, it was a grass roots clusterfuck...

Did I mention Neil Young!!! I'm really pumped for this. What time should I get there if all I want to see are Wilco, Willie, and Neil Young? And will it hard to get close if I get there at a later time?

Where have you been? I’m hoping nightwatchman gets added. That would be bewbs.
I've apparently been in lala land. Regardless, Wilco is icing on the cake. Heading to St. Louis on Saturday to visit some friends, then on to Farm Aid the next day. Yeehaw!

I’ve been expecting and hoping for additions any day now and nothing comes. Surely Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews, Jason Mraz, Wilco, Jamey Johnson, and Phosphorescent aren’t the only artists playing this weekend. I mean don’t get me wrong, NEIL YOUNG for only 50 bucks, with Dave and Tim, Wilco, that right there makes the cheap cheap ticket worth it. But the cougar? I don’t know, and I’ve seen Willie like 3 times and it’s really nothing to write home about. But like I said, Neil, Dave, and Wilco. I guess I really have no room to complain about additions.

I was hoping for an addition or two... if only because it said there'd be some on the website... but now that I think about it, no adds leaves more time for the bands already playing and that's not a bad thing at all!

I would rather have 15-45 more minutes of Neil Young and Wilco than most artists they could add so I'm fine with no adds. And I have to thank you OP, I wouldn't have gone to this without you mentioning it even existed. And I really hope Mellencamp doesn't play that Chevy commercial song because I might just have to do something awful to him.
