Very sad indeed, but thankfully it's localized and should be completely gone after the operation. I hope he gets well soon.
On a side note, I wonder what this means for all the fests they were scheduled to play - especially All Points West and Lollapalooza, which are both right around the corner.

check the ACL thread i posted a link to the article, as well as that video. all summer dates, as well as all fests including lolla, APW, and ACL have been canceled. they have also pushed back the release of the new album.

I didn't see that, but thanks for pointing it out. I figured this deserved its own thread though.
I already saw that they'd cancelled all their tour dates - what I was wondering about more was who would play instead of them at their fests. You can't just have a giant gaping hole in the schedule where the headliner is meant to be. The organizers of those two festivals now have just a few days to book a band which A) is at least as big as the Beastie Boys, B) has that particular date open, and C) makes a (roughly) similar style of music - that's certainly no easy task.

oh totally! just wanted to direct you to a little more info
as for the fests, they usually have backups for this sort of thing. i know ACL could easily just extend someone else's set rather than have a whole other band play, but i would hope for an addition.
I don't know what Osheaga will do they only have a week to replace them as a headliner. Maybe they will get tool who are doing the Friday at All Points West, that'd be a pretty dramatic change in music however. Maybe they could pull Arcade Fire out of the studio to play....haha not likely.
