maybe they'll take a look at this while making the dvd? anyway, first i would like to say sorry to sweetmelissa and the people who helped us with the s-bags and tent, but unfortunally we couldnt get in contact
the weekend was amazing, the best ive had since coachella 06, and the dvd should totally include these tunes:
1. elvis perkins - doomsday 2. dirty projectors - remade horizon 3. jenny lewis - see fernando 4. chairlift - bruises (thurs) 5. phoenix - 1901 6. femi kuti - beng beng beng (dont come too fast!) 7. pretty lights - finally moving 8. brett dennen - make you crazy (sonic stage) 9. yeah yeah yeahs - maps 10. bon iver - wolves 11. andrew bird - why? 12. white rabbits - while we go dancing 13. band of horses - the general specific 14. neko case - this tornado loves you 15. decemberists - crazy on you (heart cover) 16. beastie boys ft nas - too many rappers 17. nine inch nails - hurt

I would say Jenny Lewis and Elvis Costello doing "Carpetbaggers" together should be there. And something of Jimmy Buffett's set. And Phish and Springsteen doing "Mustang Sally."
the decemberists song picked should definitely have some colin vocals. iirc, shara and becky did most of the vocal duty for "crazy on you." i'd love to see "the rake's song" or "the wanting comes in waves/repaid" make the dvd.
I'm going to be relatively vague on this, but this is what I'd like, and would half hope, to see:
Random tracks from:
Alberta Cross MURS Kaki King Femi Kuti Phish Erykah Badu Citizen Cope Galactic with Trombone Shorty
Specific tracks: Cotopaxi from The Mars Volta (it's short, so they could fit it on there) Party For Your Right To Fight by Public Enemy Creep or Southern Man from Gov't Mule Flume from Bon Iver Head Like A Hole from Nine Inch Nails (don't know how possible this is, because of the camera situation of the show) Let's Stay Together from Al Green (I liked other selections better, but it's such a universally adored song, they'd be amiss to not include it)

Damn, no collaborations or covers? Well, so much for my requests then.
What's the reasoning behind not doing collaborations, I wonder? For the Thursday sets, Sonic Stage, and lounge acts I'm sure they just don't have the recording equipment in place. For covers there are probably complications with getting the rights to use the songs or something. But why no collaborations? You're not really representing the music of Bonnaroo without 'em...
Well I hope they make an exception to no Thursday night bands for Portugal. The Man. Their set was soooooo good.
Don't care for particular songs, just bands.
David Byrne The Mars Volta Femi Kuti TV on The Radio Grizzly Bear (only because I missed their set) King Sunny Ade Phish (only to give them ONE LAST CHANCE to win me over)
This is actually what i expect based on last year.
Wilco- You Never Know or Bull Black Nova Phish- Backwards Down the Number Line or Farmhouse Bruce- My Lucky Day or Tenth Avenue Freeze Out Al Green- Let's Stay Together Booker T and DBTs- Green Onions or Potato Hole David Byrne- I Zimbra or Born Under Punches Beastie Boys Erykah Badu Jenny Lewis or Ani Difranco YYYs or TVOTR moe. or Gov't Mule Public Enemy or Snoop Dogg MGMT or Phoenix
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
A Thieve's Parade 2/24 Conspirator 2/26 Kevin Smith 3/11 Keller 3/17 Papadosio 3/18 JJ Grey 3/25 Bela Fleck/Edgar Meyer 3/26 Toubab Krewe 3/27 O'Death 4/11 Budos Band 4/22 EOTO 4/28 Summer Camp 5/6-29 All Good
I personally do not want Mustang Sally on the DVD. I really dont even want any video of Phish and Bruce playing together. that should remain with the people who were there to witness that epic event

No Thursday acts No Sonic Stage acts No Lounge acts No collaborations No covers
There will always be some exceptions, but generally that's the way it goes.
I should say that I just think that these are the rules that they use for their dvd's.
I'm guessing a lot of it has to do with paying extra rights. (Purchasing the rights to a cover, having to compensate both Jenny Lewis and Elvis Costello for their joint appearance, etc.)
As far as Thursday shows go, thus far they've avoided them for the DVDs and I can't remember them even filming the Sonic Stage.
Who knows, hopefully they'll blow up their previous model and embrace what Roo's all about!!!
...having to compensate both Jenny Lewis and Elvis Costello for their joint appearance...
Oh yeah, that could be it. I kinda figured that when they drew up the initial contracts for everyone to play Roo (or however they arrange these things) there was something in there about agreeing that Superfly has the right to record your performance and use it however they want or something along those lines. But maybe that's not how it's done at all, I know nothing about these things.

Good thing I brought mine.
It would be awesome if they had some crystal castles or pretty lights, they usually skip on electronic. I would like to see the view from the stage of crystal castles crowd.

I'm sure they'll deliver a satisfying set of performances, but there will probably be key acts that are left off. For what's almost a full four days of live music they should really make it 2 DVDs. I'll be pleased with whatever they decide to commemorate, but I always wonder what became of the footage from 2006 and 2007.
I really wish they would make these 'Roo DVDs two discs. There's just too much footage fer just one disc! Plus I'd like to see more of the people and other activities on the Farm.
This seems pretty close to accurate. I'd expect the Byrne song to be one from the new album. Also, I think they would try to showcase the Africa calling, Tennessee shines, and metal tents they they had, as well as maybe the Byrne stage. At least 2 out of those 4.

'Hurt' would have been a perfect close out to the DVD, but unfortunately it won't happen because trent didn't allow cameras.
My requests: Phish- antelope jam YYY- Maps acoustic (including the tuning F-up that inspired them to do it acoustic) Crystal Castles- Black Panther or anything really DEP- Come to Daddy (Aphex cover, screw your rules) Katzenjammer Of Montreal (too crazy of a stage show not to showcase) Girl Talk Close out with all the balloons
any word on the track listing? the site says that the list should be out by October 1st, yet here we sit at October 2nd with no list
Well the '08 DVD was supposed to be "out in time for Christmas" and it didn't arrive until what...February? It's only one reason I haven't pre-ordered this years DVD.
