I don't ever think anything was concluded though... He was from Fort Payne, Alabama (?), found in his tent on Monday by the clean up crew, friends of his from PT said he liked the junk...
6 weeks for a toxicology report is what I hear from news sources. It's now been just a little over 6 weeks. If death was not *specifically* from substance abuse, is there anything more required from the local or state government? Or, is "unknown" sufficient for cause of death on the death certificate?

^Unknown is sufficient, as long as the family doesn't press for further information. You would think though, with this being such a high volume festival, and with all the naysayers out there, that they would want to be able to pin it on something bad like an OD or something along those lines.
This is the most recent update I can find, June 22nd, which is when they received identification, and that "preliminary autopsy reports from the Tennessee Medical Examiner’s office in Nashville did not determine a cause of death and there were no signs of any injuries. The sheriff said results from toxicology tests could take weeks." I would assume even if they ruled the cause of death unknown, they would still release a statement ???
