"So what does The Satanic Satanist sound like, you ask? Well, if you have followed Portugal. The Man’s previous albums, starting with Waiter: “You Vultures!”, you will have seen an evolution from post-emo spazz rock to more of an art-folk indie vibe (is that even a vibe?). This album, however, is something different entirely. It’s actually deceptively hard to define, but if you will indulge an analogy for a moment: Imagine The Pixies calling up 311 (don’t ask) and inviting them over to Frank Black’s manse to throw a Sly and the Family Stone appreciation party. But half-way through the gala, evil cousins Ween crash in and send the whole night flying off course. And yet, somehow, impossibly, it all works, like a good magic trick."
they may release pretty much an album every year, but each album sounds years more experienced than the previous album
i think leaving fearless records last year was the best decision they've ever made
One of my favorites of the year. There are no songs as good as "Created" or "And I" here but the album runs well together and there is not a skippable track which they have not always been able to do. "The Sun" "People Say", and "The Woods" are standouts but the entire record is very consistent.

Loving this band.....loving the album as well. Satanic Satanist is awesome from start to finish. I've been listening to it on repeat for a little while now. I'm excited because I'm catching them at the Mercury Lounge in NYC next week and I e-mailed the band to find out if they wouldn't mind me taking photos and videos for my website. they said no problem and would love the help.....so in a week or so check dontwakethescarecrow.com for videos from their concert.
really loving everyone is golden and people say. lots of good stuff.
damn i almost went to that show ITM! let me know how it was (i guess you obviously will be through your site). my friend who I turned onto PTM recently was jealous he didnt see the bonnaroo set so we wanted to go. I think I'm gonna convince him to go with me to one of the northeast shows in october

be sure to go to dontwakethescarecrow.com. I put up a ton of awesome photos from the show and also a bunch of videos. while the videos are a little dark (not much light at this show) the audio is stellar and you can still make out what the band is doing in most songs. definitely check out the 3 song medleys they do.
I am a huge fan of this album as well as church mouth and if you havent already checked out both these albums you should definetly do it they simply make great music and albums that you can listen to start to finish.
