This group does look to be freakin' stacked, though. I'm excited to hear Russo in this group especially. Quite a talented group of hippies, if I say so myself
It's a shame they probably won't stop by anywhere near me

I have a feeling that they will play more shows than this, if not do a tour, and by feeling I mean I'm hoping. I'm glad that bobby and phil picked up John Kadlecik. When I saw saw DSO all I could think was that he was amazing and as much as I love Warren Haynes, I probably would've rather seen John with the Dead this tour instead of him. Also, Joe Russo is an awesome addition to this group and I can only hope they hit the east coast with this

Im psyced. Im very surprised they picked the convention center in asbury park though out all places to play in jersey. But I will def be there and hammerstein
I saw the Sunday night (Sep 20) Furthur show at the Fox and it was incredible. The most beautiful venue I have ever been to, and these guys have incredible chemistry, especially considering it was only their third show as a unit. I would definitely recommend that you east coasters catch the shows up there. This is one of the better post-Jerry GD incarnations, and they're playing (relatively) intimate venues!

Teehee, you said unit... But seriously, you're right I listened to the shows and was shocked how great the meshed together. And I'm loving John Kadlecik right now.
And I'm sure you saw this, but I'll post anyways. Furthers tour dates.

I just saw them on Friday in wallingford, ct. Let me tell you, it was a hell of a show, and probably the best incarnation I've seen. Granted I've only seen phil a handful of times and bob only a couple, and never saw them tour under 'the dead', this still is up there. Prior I'd have to say Phil closing bonnaroo 06 was tops, but wow. My only hope is that Furthur closes out 2010.
So far the show hasn't surfaced on the archive or etree, but it's one to check out if you can. The second set is stellar, non-stop, and had me dancing non-stop.
Set 1: I Shakedown Street, Alabama Getaway, Good Morning Little Schoolgirl, Pride of Cucamonga, Loose Lucy, New Minglewood Blues, Music Never Stopped
Set 2: China Cat Sunflower > Eyes of the World > Born Cross-Eyed > Dark Star> Strawberry Fields Forever > St. Stephen > The Eleven > Not Fade Away

I've seen these guys twice in the last 2 weeks. I saw them December 30th at SF's Bill Graham Civc (capacity 7000) and last Wednesday at the Throckmorton Theatre in Mill Valley (capacity approx. 250). They've been playing these little "live rehearsal" shows and I was lucky enough to get tix to one. The new guys - Joe Russo, John Kadlicek, Jeff Chimenti, and Jay Lane - have some serious talent and a real knowledge of/appreciation for the Dead catalogue (which they dig deeply into). They inject some energy into the shows that the more dinosaur-like members seem to feed off of. There are also a couple of backup singers who smooth over some of the old guys' vocal shortcomings. The real eye-opener for me was this guy Kadlicek from DSO. I'd never seen him before and was mightily impressed. If you like this music you will like this band.
6/18: Phish in Hartford 6/25: Phish in Camden 7/2-7/4: Nateva 7/17: God Street Wine at Irving Plaza 7/23-7/25: String Cheese at Red Rocks!! 8/17-8/18: Phish at Jones Beach 9/3: Rush at PNC
This Bonnaroo lineup is in dire need of some Rush.

Friday, for Phil's 70th birthday, "Furthur & Friends" played at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in SF. In addition to the Furthur regulars, Chris Robinson, Jackie Greene, Steve Molitz, and John Molo played. Phil seemed to be having a blast and received lots of love from the audience. The show lasted over 6 hours. It was epic. Here's a setlist:
Acoustic Set with Jackie Greene, Steve Molitz & Chris Robinson: Ripple, Lazy River Road, Fennario Two Souls in Communion, Brokedown Palace A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall, They Love Each Other Mountains of the Moon, Attics of My Life
Set 2 with Jackie Greene & Chris Robinson: Scarlet Begonias, Minglewood Blues Easy Wind> New Speedway Boogie Viola Lee Blues> High Time> Caution Jam> Viola Lee Blues> Hard To Handle, Viola Lee Blues> Like A Rolling Stone> Sugaree
Set 3 with Jackie Greene, Steve Molitz & John Molo: Not Fade Away Jam * Float Parade Happy Birthday Phil! * Balloon Drop Not Fade Away Jam> Playing in the Band> Jam> St. Stephen> The Other One> Elevator> Unbroken Chain, Comes a Time> Cream Puff War (with gogo dancers)> Franklin's Tower E: Johnny B. They're playing some more of their "live rehearsals" in Marin County. I just scored a ticket for Wednesday and one for Thursday next week. I love this lineup and this will be my fourth and fifth time seeing them in the last 6 months. Good Bonnaroo warmup!
