I tried them after Meg talked about them so much but we threw ours away after a few bites. Blech. I think maybe it may have been a crappy arepa vendor b/c they sucked!

I don't know - I think you either love them or hate them
Lisa hated them also - maybe it has to do with your frame of mind?
I agree. Either you love 'em or hate 'em. I'm not sure about an everyday thing but late night at Roo, the cheesy, starchy goodness is just what a body needs.

mann thats a food MADE for me. i love them. they had a grill to make them on clearance at biglots but i was afraid id gain 20 pounds if i bought it. i hope one of you got it!
I've been searching for a restaurant that sells these since roo. Can't find them anywhere in the atlanta area. I had one every day at roo except the day I left and I still regret not having one for the road lol
Maybe I'm also just really hungry at the moment, but I can see myself specifically bringing quite a bit of extra money for arepas. They look delicious.
Nice! Can't wait to try to make these. Still won't be as good as the ones at 'Roo. I think the whole experience combined with the arepa is what really makes it special.
After 3 days of painful cramping constipation Arepas saved my life....I know a little to much information...but I appreciate the medicinal purposes of an Arepa
Thats what those things were called?!?! I was a little lifted when I bought it and couldn't remember for the life of me what it was! Maby I'll try this.

They're addicting. Down here they have them at every concert I've been to and always get them, so seeing them at roo made me feel like I had a little bite of home @ the farm.
After all the hype on here, I was so excited to try one...and I was a little disappointed. They weren't awful, but I was expecting like something amazing. They were okay. (For me at least, I know some people really love them )
And wow, you're like a walking, talking infomercial to turn people away from Pearl Jam and Ohio State, aren't you? Before you started posting here I quite liked Pearl Jam and was indifferent towards OSU, now I find myself wishing that Eddie Vedder falls down a mine shaft or that Columbus is infested with locusts
For the past several Roos, practically the first thing we do is hunt down the nearest arepa vendor. At least once over each weekend I manage to burn the bejesus out of the inside of my mouth cause I can't wait to wolf one down...

the 2 companies that do Roo (Ricky's and Toby's) are from Miami. We have them at all sporting events etc. down here. Before the Orange Bowl was torn down we used to get them from those carts right outside the stadium during tailgating
