Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Oh my God. I didn't say a damn thing about Bonnaroo. I never do anymore because even if I say something good, someone will turn it around to me being a bitch. When someone asks for a comparison, I think they are looking for things like crowd size, camping logistics, venders, etc etc. Because not everyone would call Roo a "ferrari". Some might call it an overcrowded metro bus with no air conditioning - essential to deal with to get to an amazing experience. See what I'm getting at here?
So, my Roo crew is thinking about Waka this year, as am I. Other than the obvious (smaller crowd, more temperate weather, beautiful Ozarks) how does it compare to Bonnaroo in terms of festival experience?
Well if the two festivals were cars, Roo would be a Ferrari and Waka would be an El Camino. It's fun, but it doesn't even begin to compare.
I went to both festivals last year, and I've been to Bonnaroo since 2005. Wakarusa is my favorite festival period. AllGood was cool, but sketchy and while the no overlapping sets was cool, if you don't like someone, oh well...
using the car analogy: ROO would be a Eddie Bauer edition Hummer - overpriced, hard on the environment, and big big big
Waka is a gently used 2000 Honda Civic. Cheap, easy, and reliable.
At waka, the longest walk you will have is 10 minutes long. The stages surround the camping areas, instead of camping surrounding the music. This thins crowds and makes for easy trips back to camp for a beer, if you are already walking past it why not stop?
Waka has swimming, fishing, rafting, kayaking, disc golf, hot air balloon rides, and hiking. Bonnaroo has silent discos, batting cages, xbox arcades, etc.
that said... nobody should go... i prefered the smaller crowds/vibes last year, and would hate to have the Mountain overwhelmed by Roth/ROO/10KLF refugees...

PS:
I'm not strictly dogging on Bonnaroo here. I'm hoping to make both fests again this summer, I've always had a blast at ROO. Just saying that, If bonnaroo is a ferrari, then its a ferrari that requires a nuts load of work in order to get it out on the street, compared to Wakarusa.
Its not a question of how hardcore anyone is either, saying waka is better because its "easier"
Wakarusa could be considered the beat up old project car as well if we were comparing to something like Lolla or ACL, but while a city-fest might be easier and more big pimpin, I would NEVER choose ANY Lolla or ACL or Coachella or ATP or APW over Bonnaroo. I would just choose plenty of other, smaller, more beautiful sites to camp and plenty of other, smalller, more beautiful bands to watch...

Clairity, you don't know what you're talking about, so it's ok if you wanna sit this one out. If you've never even been to Waka, why are you gonna get in the middle of a discussion about comparing it to Roo?
Oh my God. I didn't say a damn thing about Bonnaroo. I never do anymore because even if I say something good, someone will turn it around to me being a Ann Coulter. you don't need to say it's implied in pretty much everything you say.

I have never been to Bonnaroo, but have been to the past 3 wakas. I hought I was in love with waka at Clinton, and then the move to the mountain really sealed the deal. The mountain is magical!
To tell you the truth, I have always wanted to go to Bonnaroo, but after last year's waka I have no desire anymore. I am perfectly content being on top of that mountain every June with my jamily. Waka is back, and better than ever!
^ because a lot of people are on her side....quit being a DB for no reason
you simply stated that there was no comparison, and there is depending on who you are
A lot of people are on her side? The only thing she added to the conversation was "People like different things." Uh NO CRAP, that's one of the most obvious things a person could say.
If she had been to both fests, her opinion would be valid, but she hasn't so it's not.
she's saying she hates bonnaroo and she says it every chance she gets.
Is there just not enough crap stirred up right now or something?
speaking of stirring crap:
I will say that Bonnaroo has the upper hand on portopotties... even though waka had a hand sanitizer station nearby every row of portos, they just didn't clean them enough. there was on morning where i checked multiple rows and they were all poop-piled. i was hurtin until the trucks finally came up to clean it

So no matter what she says now you are just going to trash her? I don't think we need to try and start running people off the board.

No one else responded to your post, she was simply voicing her opinion. She thinks she would enjoy Waka more (said in a nice way).

every comment she makes is a backhanded stab at bonnaroo. or how some other fest is better. even fests she hasn't been to. it's annoying. so every time she does it, i am going to call her on it. i don't really care how anyone else feels about it.

Thank you man, +1. I can't believe some people can say that a fest they've never been to is better than Roo. It's so phoney.

Um. I don't believe I ever said Waka was better than Roo. I said it looks pretty awesome, but I just don't talk about Roo. Actually, for the past year or so, I've been walking on eggshells making sure to just not say anything at all about Roo or ever compare it to anything. But you always find a way to make it seem that I do. If you want to look back on my past posts, you will see that I have contributed a lot to this thread and plenty of others here. What have you done other than follow me around looking for ways to turn perfectly good threads into 'clairity is a bitch' threads?
^That depends on what you think makes a festival great. It's not the same for everyone.
you must be using a super small font to type your hatred for bonnaroo in between the lines or something. either that or i'm just missing something? ???

What you are missing is the couple posts before. Someone asks how the two fests compare, and linkovich responded with some car metaphor with how Roo is great and Waka doesn't even compare. I'm just saying that not everyone thinks the same things make a fest great. areyoukind's post was great. He uses the same metaphor, but actually explained the comparison so people who haven't been could actually get something out of it. If linkovich's post would have explained what makes Roo a "Ferrari" and Waka an "el Camino" maybe it would have actually been worth something.

i don't follow you around. just commenting on what i see.
Clairity, after you actually attend Waka, you'll see what I was talking about. I can't expect you to understand the car metaphor if you haven't even been to both fests. My bad.

wakawakawakawaka.
gawd I can't wait. this festie is gonna be tits. Like some heavenly cross between Rothbury and Canada's Shambala festival. I'm gonna dance so much. sooooo gawl darn much.
okay so I saw Umph again in Asheville last night, and 2010 is DEFINITELY their year. Their Waka sets will transcend space and time and beauty itself. I wish I had the money to just follow them around for the year because they're just killing it right now. I'm definitely camping out for their tent set, that one is going to be an earth shaker.

Hey all, sorry if this is a dick move, but I'm too sleepyeyed to read through this right now, and didn't want to forget. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with some info on Waka (like if there's any viable volunteering for free tickets, primarily post show work)...if anyone could help me out, PM or whatever, I'd appreciate it times a thousand. I haven't been able to find any info on the waka site/board regarding it. thanks allllll
