Yeah true, I just thought since they did try out the metal type bands that maybe for 2010 they might think about giving it a go. not a shit ton...just 1 or 2.
i used to be a big thursday fan and still occasionally listen to War All the Time and Full Collapse, i enjoyed both albums. i doubt they would be at Roo though.
I don't think Thursday should really even be considered emo/screamo. They're way more talented than a lot of the stuff that falls into those classifications: Hawthorne Heights, Silverstein, Senses Fail. I don't mind those bands, but Thursday does make more of an effort to evolve and be creative musically. I'd throw them more in the post-hardcore genre with At the Drive-In, Glassjaw, Hot Water Music, Thrice (some of it), Alexisonfire, Posion the Well, etc. All those genres overlap, but I always see a clear distinction between the poppy/alternative leaning bunch and the more musically talented groups. I think any of that second bunch would fit in just as well as the metal bands we've gotten the last few years. A tent with Thursday, Hot Water Music, Glassjaw and maybe a Fugazi reunion to end things off Oh and At the Drive-In reunion late night!
PS: Seeing Full Collapse straight through had to be so awesome! Wish I'd seen that.

I was gonna post something very similar. There are a lot of great bands that are still associated with the pop punk emo screamo whatever you want to call it scene (which I don't mind really) that really don't fall into that category. A couple of bands that came to mind were Glassjaw, Circa Survive, Thursday, and even Dillinger Escape Plan who played Bonnaroo. But of all the bands that are unfairly categorized into that genre Brand New gets it the worst. Yes, there roots are in catchy pop punk but they have grown more as a band over the years than any other group I can think of. Now that would be a show I'd like to see at Roo.
Bonnaroo's stretched into metal, but I don't think they'll stretch into emo/screamo ever. Try Warped Tour for these sorts of bands.
Have you seen Warped Tour lately? Thursday would not fit in. Kevin Lyman has turned what used to be a respectable punk tour into a line up of talentless clowns in all neon who scream ridiculous lyrics about partying over a beat I could have made in garage band.

To tell the truth, I just looked at their allmusic profile and saw screamo and cringed. Now that I looked at their myspace and listened to their most played track I'm still cringing. Do not want. For what it's worth, it's more of a genre thing. I can't stand their sound in general. They could be the most talented band in that genre and I wouldn't care, it's the voice.
Also just because their more talented in their genre doesn't mean they are above being classified in that genre. It's just a way to describe their sound.

Thursday is one of my all time favorite bands and I will admit that Geoff Rickley can't sing for shit. He even knows it. His nickname when they first started the band was Tone Geoff. If you can get past the voice and see through to the amount of energy and emotion he puts into the music, not to mention his fantastic lyrics, you might be able to enjoy it. Nobody hates on Wayne Coyne even though he clearly can't hit a single note.
Not trying to push them on you by the way. Thursday is not the most accessible band. Just showing you the perspective of a fan.
