Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Would it be possible to have a raffle/lottery for a free Bonnaroo ticket up here? Chances could cost $2.00 U.S. a piece or 3 for $5. The winner gets a GA ticket to Bonnaroo and the rest of the money that you make could go to improve the site/help get rid of the adds and such and maybe help with The Inforoo Brunch or to help make t-shirts, etc. etc.
This could easily be setup with a paypal account and if u had just 100 people buy the 3 for $5 raffle tickets, you could have money left over. Admin would obviously be exempt and a drawing of numbers would have to be done.
I think it may be too late to do it this year but perhaps next year, with the winner getting 1 GA ticket to Bonnaroo and maybe an Inforoo shirt thrown in for good measure.
Has this ever been discussed before? I think you'd get quite a few people willing to buy chances (you could set it up as no limit or a certain limit either way) and since most of us are going to go anyways, a few dollars spent to win a cool prize would be no hassle. Plus, it goes to help a site we already love!
If their is not enough money raised for a ticket (I have thought this out for awhile now) The winner could still get a free tshirt AND two free entries into next years drawing (provided you had another)

I think It could be a good idea. I am sure we could find someone responsible enough to handle the money/paypal account and be responsible for ordering the ticket. I would think it is late from this year as a decent number of peeps go ahead and get the 1st tier if they go GA. The drawing would have to be done before the presale begins. I would be all for it, we could probably even start at $1 a pop, it can't be that hard to get a couple hundred folks interested out of a couple thousand that already go and support The Bonnaroo on a regular basis. (And yes it does read The Bonnaroo cause I just saw the Batman movie this week and wanted to say The Bonnaroo in the Joker voice).
I think it is a great idea. I agree that $1 may go over well if you were given more than one chance to enter. I suppose that would have to be decided on but even $3 would work.

The biggest problem seems to be the fact that gaming laws are set by individual states... the internet crosses state borders and gaming rules, regulations, and the permit laws on charity raffles vary widely from state to state. I could be wrong, but a quick Google search on this subject turned up (what looked to me like) a logistical nightmare. Also prizes would have to be guaranteed and could not be changed or revoked if not enough money was collected. If someone was able to pull this off though, I would definitely take part.

Sorry, this question has come up in the past and we as admins are not comfortable with the legalities/responsibility that would come from collecting money and raffling tickets off.
If someone wants to do this on their own, and not be affiliated with or tied to inforoo, that of course is up to you

I guess I understand this stance, but if a waiver was signed, the legality part of it could be no problem. I do, however, realize that you folks have other things to do and just thought it was an idea.
