i went last year. It's a fun little fest, but be prepared for FREEZING temperatures. Literally freezing. Sunday night it was 32 degrees. I had a pretty warm coat but not a winter jacket and it was really hard to stay out late night because it got sooo cold.
There is a pretty decent group of people going from infobury this year and moutnain jam forum. Last year we all camped together.
here is the 19 page mountain jam thread from infobury. check it out

The last page of Relix magazine has an "initial lineup" listed. It's just a few bands and i'm sure we'll get plenty more in the coming weeks. Here is what they list
Gov't Mule (2 nights) Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi Band The Avett Brothers Toots & the Maytals Dave Mason Lettuce ALO
pretty sweet so far. I can't wait to see who else shows up.

^They are on Jack Johnson's label, Brushfire Records. The band includes Zach Gill, who I believe played the piano (or keyboards) during Jack's Roo set in 2008.
alomusic.com to find out more. i don't know much about them other than hearing good reviews. I'll definitely check them out if i can hit up Mtn. Jam
Great song, I like them! I tried four times with two different email addresses to get the free single "I Love Music" off their website... it kept telling me to check my email... but I got no new email Aw well, definitely a band to look out for...

^^^ It was founded by WDST Radio Woodstock in 2005, but Gov't Mule is the one band that has played it every year, so it is probably safe to say they will be there once again in 2010

crunchies for the info. pretty sweet indeed! thanks ;D
Umphreys will be at mtn jam! Not sure which day or what time they'll play but drummer kris myers said they would be playing there at caribbean holidaze in december
^^Awesome! I was already on the fence about Mountain Jam, especially with the Avett Brothers playing, but with Umphrey's there, this just got far more likely. I hope this guy isn't just making this up.

from Jambase.com
GOV'T MULE will anchor the multi-band bill for the sixth year in a row with two headlining performances. Haynes' fellow Allman Brothers Band guitarist DEREK TRUCKS will introduce a new band featuring his wife, singer SUSAN TEDESCHI, to Mountain Jam. The new group will feature an original mixture of rock, soul, blues and roots songs by Trucks and Tedeschi, both of whom received 2010 Grammy Award nominations. Mountain Jam favorites MICHAEL FRANTI & SPEARHEAD will make an exclusive northeast summer festival appearance with their return to Mountain Jam for a 5th consecutive year.
Mountain Jam's initial lineup also includes many performers who are making their debut at the Festival, including current indie darlings THE AVETT BROTHERS, touring behind their major label debut, I and Love and You, Primus bassist LES CLAYPOOL, performing a late night outdoor set on the Mountain, reggae architect TOOTS AND THE MAYTALS, Colorado jamgrass sensations YONDER MOUNTAIN STRING BAND, Hassidic reggae star MATISYAHU, ALO, LETTUCE, JONATHAN TYLER & THE NORTHERN LIGHTS, ELMWOOD, THE LONDON SOULS, Traffic guitarist DAVE MASON and DARK STAR ORCHESTRA.
Many more bands will be announced in the coming months, with 40 bands to appear on the 4 stages throughout the weekend. In addition to the two main outdoor showcase stages, live music will also be heard on the indoor Colonel's Hall Stage and an outdoor Acoustic Stage. A limited number of discounted, Early Bird Festival Tickets and VIP Tickets will go on sale this Monday, January 25, at 10 a.m. EST through www.mountainjam.com. The Early Bird 3-Day Festival Passes are $141.50 or $161.50 with camping. A limited number of Early Bird VIP Passes will be available for $404.50. Ticket pricing is tiered, so that prices will be raised after allotments are met. Tickets will also be made available at www.mule.net.
Late Night Claypool set? Ummmm yes please. I'll take it. I can't wait.
Any info on camping, party favors, distance to stage, etc. ? How easy is it to eat corn while at the shows? Same as Bonnaroo? Someone who's been help me out

itrain I'm another who is curious about this festival's operations. Thinking I might go this year. Also, another thing I noticed from Jambase that I didn't see anywhere else is that a Co-Headliner is still to be announced. This lineup was already great and another headliner still to go? Awesome. And you're right...Les latenight is going to be incredible.

The last few years they've seemed to have pretty big lineup announcements close to the fest. Some people on another forum said Phil and Friends wasn't announced until like a few weeks from the festival.
That said, there are a lot of hopes/rumors of who will be the Sunday night headliner for Mtn. Jam. On the mountain jam forums the popular hopes are : Black Crowes, Widespread Panic, Furthur, SCI.
I don't think we'll get a huge name like those. Maybe Panic but we'll see.

someone on the mountain jam forum said they got an e-mail and there will be an announcement tomorrow. Hopefully it's a big artist addition. Most people over there are hoping the Sunday headliner will be one of the following: Widespread, Furthur, SCI, Black Crowes, MMJ. I'm hoping MMJ but I HIGHLY DOUBT that will happen. Furthur would be nice tho

even though i'm the only one in this thread.......here's an update. Artist additions. Levon Helm & Friends to close Sunday (supposedly a guest heavy set).
---------- Levon Helm of Woodstock, the former drummer and vocalist for The Band, has been added to the lineup of Mountain Jam VI, set for June 4-6 at Hunter Mountain.
Helm's closing-night set is being billed as Levon Helm & Friends, and will feature "a guest-heavy Sunday night performance," according to Woodstock-based WDST (100.1 FM), which stages Mountain Jam in the heart of the Catskills with Warren Haynes, guitarist for the Allman Brothers Band and Gov't Mule.
The Levon Helm Band, which has anchored the longtime Hudson Valley resident's intimate "Midnight Ramble" house concerts at Levon Helm Studios, will perform.
WDST has also announced the addition of Dr. Dog, New Mastersounds, Jay Farrar of Son Volt, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, The Duke & The King, The Bridge, Zach Deputy, The Brew, Simone Felice (performing solo), Justin Townes Earle, Jerry Joseph & Wally Ingram, Gandalf Murphy and The Slambovian Circus of Dreams, These United States, Mojo Myles Mancuso, Van Ghost, Kari Spieler, Dean Batstone, and IS.
Concert organizers had already announced that Gov't Mule, Michael Franti & Spearhead, The Avett Brothers, Les Claypool, Yonder Mountain String Band, Toots and The Maytals, Matisyahu, Dark Star Orchestra, and Dave Mason, along with dozens of other bands, will perform.
Mountain Jam also features camping and vending, all at the base of the Hunter Mountain Ski Bowl.
Wow, I am definitely hitting this up. Warren Haynes is the gf's favorite musician and I missed the Mule set at Roo last year from a chemically induced heat stroke. 2 nights of Mule, Levon, Grace and the boys, the Avetts, Les, Derek and Susan, Lettuce, Dark Star, and Dr. Dog? That's more than enough to force my hand.
