Wow, I am definitely hitting this up. Warren Haynes is the gf's favorite musician and I missed the Mule set at Roo last year from a chemically induced heat stroke. 2 nights of Mule, Levon, Grace and the boys, the Avetts, Les, Derek and Susan, Lettuce, Dark Star, and Dr. Dog? That's more than enough to force my hand.
I hear ya loud and clear. That lineup is a dream for me.

Fingers crossed for Levon being able to sing at Mountain Jam. He couldn't at Gathering of the Vibes last year, much to my chagrin, as he was the act I was most excited to see. They still killed it and Larry Campbell was/is fantastic. Plus, Bobby Weir came out for a couple of tunes, including a very fun Tennessee Jed. My buddy just saw Levon in NYC a couple of weeks ago and once again, he was prohibited by his doctors from singing.
6/18: Phish in Hartford 6/25: Phish in Camden 7/2-7/4: Nateva 7/17: God Street Wine at Irving Plaza 7/23-7/25: String Cheese at Red Rocks!! 8/17-8/18: Phish at Jones Beach 9/3: Rush at PNC
This Bonnaroo lineup is in dire need of some Rush.

Since it's Levon & Friends I could see others singing a majority. I'm hoping for a handful of songs sung by the man himself though. Only if he's healthy enough
"Big UGH. Those additions would have sealed the deal for me last month. I don't kow if I can take the time off. But wow. Seriously. Best line up adds I have ever seen from any festival, for me anyways." TS Comment: Really? Best line-up adds EVER.I think this guy's crazy. God bless him though, he's entitled to his opinion.
I found this on the MJ board this morning.
It really is the best line up adds for me. The DBT's, The Whigs, The Duke and the King, Jay effin' Farrar, Grace, and Levon?!?
Sorry. If you know me then you know how much I love those bands. Sure you can add big names but it's aways the undercard that get me.
Truth be told I wasn't even into that line up when it dropped. But several names can always make a difference to some people.
But don't listen to me. I'm crazy.
EDIT: Sorry for the double post.

Yea i posted about that being from us on inforoo over at the Mountain Jam message board. Some of the people who do MJ every year seem to be upset with the lineup but I'm so excited. I liked the initial lineup because my girlfriend will get to finally see Franti and I was going to get Franti, Avetts, Mule X 2, Trucks/tedeschi, and more. Now with Duke & King, Dr. Dog, Justin Townes Earle and Levon I'm even more pumped.

Hey Garageland, No offense meant. I was just trying to give everyone an idea of the reaction to the announcement from around the boards.
And truth be told here you guys have actually opened my eyes a bit. It really isn't that bad. I think we were all just shocked that there was no big-name act added, that's all.

I still think you're crazy.
Hope to see you there.
welcome to inforoo Saint!
and yea I think people were building up their expectations a bit much and were underwhelmed when the actual announcement came. Similar to here on inforoo about the bonnaroo lineup.
While Furthur, SCI, Black Crowes, or WSP would be great at MJ I think people are going to be surprised with a really special Levon Helm set. I hope for many guests coming out and playing.
And who knows.........maybe one of the few bands left to announce will be a pretty big act. Maybe Furthur or Moe. or someone else doing a late night or something? Dunno.....but i'm excited for Mountain Jam this year. The Duke & The King is amazing so I'm pumped to see it on the mountain.

Thanks monkeyman. You hit it there. It was all about expectations. Once I got over the initial shock I realized that there are some real quality on the line-up. And either way I'm there and I'm-a-gonna-have-a-good-time!!!
Quite funny too that while we were bashing the line-up on the MJ board it's getting all sorts of love over here. Ahhhh.....life.

Many were bashing the Roo lineup here but when I went to other forums (specifically one for the Dead Weather) there were so many positive comments and people being excited. It happens a lot.
bought my tickets last week. i'm excited for 2 nights of mule plus the many other amazing bands. I'm so happy i'm goin to a fest in june that i will not be awake shortly after sunrise because the heat is too unbearable, bring on the cold temps!

Supposed to be some very special guests for the Levon Helm & Friends birthday bash. Can't wait to see who. I think they will announce some of them in the coming weeks.
Still gotta get my ticket but I'm not missing this festival.

Just a heads-up for folks who haven't been to MtnJam before: Pack for winter. Last year on Sunday, May 31st the low temperature was 30 degrees. That is not a typo. It was 30 degrees. I had full winter gear and I still almost froze.
Luckily it's a little later this year, but it could still get very cold. Be prepared.

I really want to go to this, its only a 2 1/2 hour drive from me. I think I'm just gonna end up buying a ticket and say eff it. My car is not reliable enough to get there but I'll find my way somehow. If I end up going it looks as though I will be going solo. Would anyone want to meet up?

There's a group camp that I started last year with a couple people. We had between 20 and 30 folks turn out last year and we're looking at more this year. Itrainmonkeys from here is joining in this year and you're more than welcome too. ;D
Here's a link to the camp thread on the MJ board: bbsmtjam.section101.com/viewtopic.php?t=1230&start=0 There may not be that much info there, as we tend to stray off topic, but you can get a feel for the crazies who'll be there and ask questions if you wish.
