Morey took a lot of unnecessary slander at the trade deadline and it looks like he knew what he was doin all along. Heild has been even better then i could of hoped for and he hasnt even played with Embiid yet. Ricky Council was UDFA this year and needed all of 3 games to be 100x more impressive then Springer ever was.

the morey deadline slander is fairly dum but morey slander that I think is fair is that he has continued to roll with trying to win a title with Embiid and it seems at this point imminently clear that Embiid enduring a 25-30 game run of games at playoff level intensity without getting injured is an incredibly unlikely outcome

i dont really agree. For starters he has no choice but to ride this out with Embiid for the remainder of his contract (3/4 years). Going forward hes prob gonna avg more like 50/60 games a season in order to, hopefully, be healthier come playoff time. Hes arguably the best player in the league and we wont get fair value back anyway. We are in cap heaven after the season so he can build a more sustainable team around him that should be able to maintain better with him out. He becomes the 2nd option, maybe even 3rd option to Maxey and whoever we add in the offseason.
It's the all star break. I'd say I don't think the Pelicans are as good as they should be. We're pretty good but so inconsistent. We still require one of our top players to have a superb game to beat the best teams. And we haven't always been blowing out the bad teams. We had back to back games where we scored the most in franchiser history and then one of the lowest scores. We also lead or at least led the league for a long time with blowing leads of 15 or more points. That was earlier in the season, but it was like on a couple of hands. We're 32-22 and 5.5 back of the T-Wolves @ #6 tied with the Suns (5th). Top 4 West has been knotted, though with Denver having lost 3 straight, they've fallen back. Mavs are a game back of us, and the Kings 2. We need to light some shit up, but I feel like we're only good enough to be 4-5-6. It's unfortunate, because the team spent a shit ton of money on contracts only for players to be injured. I think coming into the season CJ/BI/Zion had like 170+/- minutes together on the court. Jonas is on an expiring. So we built what we thought would be a good team including a bunch of great bench and defensive players to support (Herb Jones, TM3, Jose, Naji, Dyson Daniels, etc.), but it didn't work. Maybe we can win a series, but who knows?

I think it's kinda dumb to have G Leaguers (guys not good enough to make an NBA team) over rookies and sophomores that have a genuine chance of making the real deal All-Star Game one day, such as idk.. Amen Thompson and Cam Whitmore for example?
Yeah, that was a really out-of-touch comment. Last night watching I kept saying to my partner that they need to get Kenny off the call for these things because he's so goddamn negative about shit. Even hearing those 2 juxtaposed minutes of the alt-cast reminded me of just how positive BA, Candace and Reggie are. Even when they're being judgmental, it's still playful and not straight up insulting or thoughtless.
edit. don't get me wrong, Reggie can kind of wear me down on the call for actual games sometimes just because of repetition, but by god does he fucking love basketball. That makes up for a lot.

Yeah Kenny is fucking exhausting. He comes across like he doesn't follow the NBA, in a way that's kind of impossible to believe. I think he's just such a hater that he gets surprised that Jaime Jaquez can jump and Tyrese Haliburton can shoot. Like his baseline attitude is that everything and everyone is unserious.

NBA needs to go back to the drawing board with the all star game. Make it a 3 v 3 tournament where the 10 would be starters get to draft teams. Reigning league MVP, current top scorer, current top rebounder, current top assister get first round byes. Full court to 23, must win by 2. Single knockout.
Winning team get $1,000,000 each. Runners up $250,000. 3rd/4th: $100,000.
Could do the same format (with less prize money) for the celebrity tournament, and even throw in something like a Legends tourney for retired players.

I like the Rising Stars four-team tourney format and would be happy if they just did that with All-Stars. But overall I'm not sure there's much they can do to make people who don't already watch care.

They have to make the players care. But there’s no way to do that.
