I wanted so badly for this thread to exist when my beloved Vols toppled Kansas on Sunday, so I decided to open the forum. Discuss away!
Personally, I'm looking forward to this Kentucky\Florida game. While I hate both, I think I will be rooting for the Gators; I've got to see someone knock Cal down a few notches.

Congrats on that win the other night, LG. UT tried to give it away at the end -- they looked like they'd been taking free throw lessons from Coach Cal. But great win.
Unfortunately Cal is getting UK back to where they should be. The Gators are keeping this game a lot closer than I thought though.
I grew up worshipping Rock and Roll like a religion. I know its shortcomings and strengths but have loved it unconditionally all the same since I was eight-years old. I ran away and joined the circus and honestly, I'm still as obsessed as I was as a boy. I'm not a kid anymore but I still remember how it felt and it doesn't really feel all that different to me now.

Am I the only one in this thread who thinks college basketball is a vastly inferior, nearly unwatchable game compared to the NBA? I watch the tournament, but that's about it. Too many low scoring turnover fests for my taste.
I get the argument about the passion and intensity of the tournament, but the best game of any given tournament is usually on par with at least a half dozen times on a given week in the NBA regular season.

I completely agree. NCAA games seem more sloppy in general than the average NBA game. I like both NCAA and NBA basketball though. I love watching the tourny, but I would rather watch a random NBA game than NCAA game. As to talking about the passion, I believe NBA players are some of the most passionate athletes out there. Their desire to win and have boasting rights over the rest of the league and players cannot be bested.
I'm a huge Sixers fan, but, sadly, the Sixers are blowing it this year and hopefully Eddie Jordan is fired at the end of the season. It's just frustrating to watch them beat a good team like the Spurs and then lose by 30-40 pts to the Heat and Bulls.
I got to Drexel so whenever our team wins its usually an upset and gets some attention. I think the one time we got on ESPN was as the team that gave Kentucky its 2000th win lol. Hopefully Drexel can make the tourny or i'll have to root for Villanova as usual.

Yeah...Eddie Jordan is a bad fit for that personnel the same way Flip Saunders has been a horrible fit for the Wizards.
However, I wouldn't be too bummed out. You made it through the trade deadline without the Sixers giving away Iguodala, Young or Holiday. If the Sixers draft well and move Dalembert for something decent next season, I think they're still in a good position to succeed.
Ultimately, I just think they screwed themselves by letting Miller go. Without Miller, Iguodala just isn't as effective on offense. Maybe if the go after Steve Blake this offseason and draft well, they might be able to pick up 5 or 10 games next season.

100% Agree. Miller was key to the little bit of success and playoff berths they had under Mo Cheeks. Miller was effective at maintaining the flow of the offense. He would've been well worth the money to keep. Personally, I wish Cheeks was still the coach because he did a good job building up a young and struggling team and now that's been undone by Jordan. And you're right about how good it is they didn't lose those key players in trades. Right now I'm just hoping that they get a good lottery pick in the draft.

Gnome, what seed do you give UT this year? ...considering the Vols will win out against Arkansas and Miss State ...and not considering any SEC tourny wins lol. The Kansas, Kentucky, and Memphis wins should get us somewhere.

^5 seed for sure, maybe a 4 seed, if we can win out (or even just beat MS State). Any tournament wins would just be icing on the cake. I could be wrong, but we'll see where Bracketology has them on Monday...

I'm going to enjoy quoting this next Saturday.
Still waiting on you reposting the quote there Bossman.
Vanardo looked like an amateur rec league player tonight, though he didn't look that bad considering that MS State looked content to play in the NIT. In fact, I'm not sure that I've seen a worse performance this year by anyone (including LSU) in a single game. The Hump just seemed awful quiet.

It was quiet I felt out of place yelling, so I just stopped. I haven't seen a bigger turd from them the last two years. I was just pissed about how that guy completely dismissed MSU as trash, but I guess they deserved it.
I always root for UT, so I guess I'm going to root for them the rest of the year I'm not even mad I'm just sad

I completely dismissed your team as trash because Miss State is nowhere near as successful as the Vols? It would have been a crazy upset. I just said assuming Tenn beats Miss State, good god.

My Hoosiers play in the Big Ten Tournament in just a few minutes. This is their only hope to get into the NCAA tournament. I can't believe this shitty season is almost over.

I can't believe how horrendously disappointing UConn was this year.
Oh wait, I actually can believe it. Nice move going pro, Hasheem Thabeet. Gotta love that NBA D-League lifestyle. Ahhh well, at least Jimmy Calhoun's coming back. He may be on his last legs and a gust of wind away from death's door, but he should be able to haul in some decent recruits. If he doesn't, we might not even make the NIT next year.
6/18: Phish in Hartford 6/25: Phish in Camden 7/2-7/4: Nateva 7/17: God Street Wine at Irving Plaza 7/23-7/25: String Cheese at Red Rocks!! 8/17-8/18: Phish at Jones Beach 9/3: Rush at PNC
This Bonnaroo lineup is in dire need of some Rush.
