No cap, no league. The Lakers would just eat everyone. The situation is bad enough as-is.
the lakers are pretty broke generally. the Busses dont really have any money outside of the organization, the lakers havent paid the tax in over 8 years at the least off the top of my head.
Well, tbf, it's not just the Lakers. The Knicks technically have the most annual revenue, and the Warriors are up there too, but those teams are all hovering around a 4.5 billion dollar valuation via Forbes. The Raptors, in tenth place, were valued at less than half that, 2.1 billion. The Lakers make an estimated 5.6 million dollar in revenue per home game from in-person attendance. COVID cost them more than any other team, around 55 million, they have the richest TV deal in American professional sports, their revenue for a season exceeds 400 million dollars, and their profit in 2017 was something like 115 million dollars, according to Windy, which led the league, and that was when they weren't any good. Them not paying the tax is pretty meaningless when they were striking out in free agency for the most part.
They ain't broke lol. And the competitive balance of the league, which is generally considered to be an issue, would clearly be more screwed up if there were no salary cap. The Grizzlies are worth an estimated 1.3B.
More in line with my expectations. We actually went into the tax to sign him. Didn't know Tillman had it in him. Very happy to get this guy. I hope his per-36 numbers can translate to a bigger role with us.
Wall wants out of Washington, apparently, but Shams says talks between Houston and Washington are cold.
If he stays on the court he can still be an All-Star-level guy. He had a very good year in 2018-2019, his best ever by some metrics. He was a minus when he did play last year, but it was a weird year. Would be interesting to see him next to Jokic. Could be quite a force. It's just a big question mark as to whether he can stay healthy, obviously, and he's got a couple years left on a huge deal.
