Anyone ever use one of these? Thinking about taking one this year. Its up off the ground and I won't be disturbed/disturb someone else when I decide to enter/leave the tent at night or in the morning. Wondering if anyone had experience/advice with these.
Looks interesting, although you will not have that much room for gear. I like the idea of a cot in a tent, being off the ground is key. This will keep you dry if in the event it rains.

That thing looks awesome. It'd be perfect for someone going solo. Kind of pricey, imo. I think I'm just gonna do a cot in my tent this year as well. Used an air mattress last year, but I'm taking a smaller tent this year.

We always camp behind my car so gear wouldn't be a problem.
One reason for me to never sleep on the ground again. Last year on sunday around 2 or 3 am some dude stealing stuff from peoples campsites gets chased down and tackled right behind my tent. It was a cop on foot and a horseback cop. The horse was standing inches from my tent and I didn't want to move and spook it for fear of it squashing my head like a tomato lol. I laid there freaking, able to see the horse's silhouette against my tent and it snorting and sidestepping back and forth. It was like something out of the headless horseman.
ok not really a good reason to sleep off the ground but I wanted to share that story lol

Cot is a great idea. I doesn't have to be fancy, a simple $30 cot will give you much better sleep and keep you a little drier, space isnt really a big deal as long as the tent isn't housing too many people, you can store stuff under it if need be

I've heard people who have not liked the tent cot, but it with a couple poles and a plastic tarp and you could have a nice shaded, water resistant, minimum bug environment.

i just use an Ozark Trail tent every year and, yes I know I am horrible, I take it down but leave it there every year or ask my neighbors if they want it (usually the case, they jump all over it). To me, getting a new tent each year makes me go out early and look for Roo supplies.

pondo ROCKS 1. yes you are horrible for buying a new tent each year. 2. especially since you are buying it from wal mart. 3. At least you are giving it away and not throwing it away.
But seriously, why wouldn't you just buy a nice tent and use it year after year? I used a $100 Coleman 6 man from 2004-2009. I just recently bought a 2man Kelty (also $100) that Im sure will last me for years to come. It makes more sense economically.

I brought my relatively expensive REI tent last year, along with an EZ-up and a cot to sit/lounge on under the EZ-up. The tent had all these mesh walls and everything, but it was still like an oven compared to sleeping on the cot under the EZ-up. My camp-mate and I battled over who got the cot every night haha. So that's my advice: get a cot and an EZ-up or at least a tarp you can hang. Improves air-flow IMMENSELY.
I'm thinking about buying one of these, too, so I'm pretty interested in hearing about it as well. I think it would fit well into my Roo Contingency Plan, hahaha.

I am def buying a cot this year after seeing how comfy Andrea looked on Monday morning. It'll be small enough to fit in my two man tent and less of a hassle than an air mattress.

a horse will squash your head just as easily if it's 2 feet off the ground in a cot. ;-)
totally not the point at all but last year we were looking into these. some review online (amazon i think) someone referred to his boy scout troop using these and calling it the "jack shack". haa haa.
we brought along a folding lounge chair last year and after the air mattress sprung an unfixable leak it became my cot, since i have a sort of bad back. it was super awesome. i even brought it out o see snoop dogg when i was really run dpwn the last day. we are going to get two more for this year so we all have one. its the cheapest crappiest one you can get, it folds ni three and is made of little skinny woven plastic strips. so cheap i cant find a pic online. you can get them for like $5. it can raise up just one part or lie completely flat, no armrests. dont get the wide plastic straps, they can break. and dont spring for the fancy comfy canvas. canvas stays wet, plastic wipes DRY. this is important. if the air is damp even if the tent is technically dry canvas seating will be wet and sucky. putyour sleeping bag on there and you will be a happy camper. for real.
Haha the tent cot.. I've gone camping a few times with a couple who swears by their tentcot. It has been a beast during the torrential downpours all night long! Its really stood up to the elements. I'm guessing its a double tentcot, btw - and there is a support bar down the middle (vertically) so as long as you don't roll around a whole lot & stay on one side or the other, it shouldn't be too uncomfortable. Now there's not a lot of room in it. They said you can barely sit up all the way so getting dressed & ready & moving around in it isn't very practical. Haha we were just talking about the tentcot last night & I gotta say that the guy said one of his favorite things about it is really just being able to roll over, unzip & piss out the tentcot then just go right back to sleep - especially handy when good & intoxicated haha!
thats hilarious... i have a portable toilet that fits in my tent so i don't have to really leave the tent either except to throw away the leftovers
We just pee in plastic bottles and throw them away in the morning. It may not be as easy as pouring it out, but I don't have to worry about it leaking into the tent next to ours either.
