Oh man, the clue *could* be a reference to Neil Young's "Tonight's the Night." Before the star hatched is night, before the day breaks. "Well, early in the morning at just about the break of day He used to sleep until the afternoon. Tonight's the night, yes it is."
Edit: War has been a major theme in Neil's work. "Tonight's the Night" was Neil's dedication to his roadie, Bruce Berry, after his death. Djjd has been tweeting clues suggesting terms (one, one, chk...) used by roadies when prepping the sound. He also mentioned driving a van at his 1st 'Roo. And he said to have a "cold one stashed;" Bruce Berry is dead. Something to think about, anyway.

seems pretty obvious sorry if its a repeat.. we need guesses added at the beginning

So what if the letter clues represent comedy performers as opposed to musical acts? I don't know how to relate either clue to a specific performer but since it's a new level of trickiness the letters could suggest the performer's name....like z=zach galifianikis or something like that. D offers much more flexibility but if we can lock down this format by solving for Z then we would at least know whether to pursue the notion further.

I suppose it's possible, but there's really no reason to think that. I don't think we've had any comedy guesses for this clue, and we're pretty stumped on D since we're not sure what the last word is, so we definitely don't have any comedy guesses there.
Also we've been assuming clue 4 is talking about comedy acts (or musical comedy, or Steve Martin even though he's coming as a musician, or something like that), and DJ JD implied that we had the answer - we don't know for sure which answer(s) he meant, but I'm pretty sure everything we guessed between his previous tweet on that clue and that one was comedy, so I think it's a pretty safe bet clue 4 IS talking about at least one comedy act...so if letters meant comedy, clue 4 would have been a letter clue.

I thought of that too but given how this clue involves some kind of number manipulation thought there still could be a numeric correlation bridging the gap between the two types of performers.

The only other idea which has come back to me with z is !!!. djjd spoke of beer a couple times (before the clue even came out and then when the edwin starr thing was being batted around) specifically mentioning cZech beer (the band's name is pronounced chk chk chk. I was thinking if someone very excitedly made a post with two !!s after it adding another "letter" could produce the answer. I also was studying the keyboard to see if there was any relationship between locations of teh ! key and * key. It's all an exercise in futility though as he told us a beer is just a beer & none of this involves edwin starr in any way.
So this is a longshot but because right before this clue he said clues in your coffee or somethin like that I was thinkin "cream", and I don't know how to connect this to the clue lol but maybe Eric Clapton by himself. Just a guess

far fetched guess, but the guy's youtube channel is "All around the world" ... "Around the World" is a Daft Punk song...
long shot, but its all i got
This would go along with my idea about the letter clues being headliners!!!
Clue Z= Daft Punk
Clue D= Rolling Stones (Exile on Mainstreet)
(Oh, and just to throw it out there... Superfly,AC Ent, Bonnaroo Gods and to whoever else it may concern- If you give me Neil and Daft Punk I wont care if the other 140 some odd bands are all country and classical, I will be extatic!!!)
Roger McGuinn, when born/hatched was named James Joseph McGuinn III. Being the 3rd, he's named after his father *and* grandfather; his given name, probably decided before he was born/hatched, "is what is two times before he was." "Hatched" indicates his Byrdness. The Byrds rendition of "Turn, Turn, Turn" became an anthem of the Vietnam antiwar movement.

I'm taking it that way. Never before have so many tried so hard to disprove something so obviously true than with this clue, and even that fits with the clue - that's what makes this a "brand new kind" of clue.
