There's a Milwaukee radio station starting to tease about a two-day festival they're arranging at the Summerfest grounds along the lakefront.
All I've got from the description at their website: This year, the Summerfest grounds will host a brand new Modern Rock and Alternative Festival on Friday, June 4 and Saturday, June 5, 2010. This new festival will feature Alternative and Modern Rock bands and will include a nonstop lineup of national and regional headliners.
At this point, they're mainly promoting on the contest to name said festival. I've done some poking around and found no leads as to who might be playing.
I doubt it's within traveling distance from most of Inforoo, and with my time-off for Bonnaroo the following week even I might not make it. Despite that, I still find it curious enough to share...
They're still calling themselves "independent alternative" and doing the occasional Flannel Flashback weekend. A quick look at their website shows they're currently playing "My Hero" by Foo Fighters.
102.1 had that stretch of about in the mid-90s where they put on that New Rock Fest at the Summerfest grounds every Memorial Day, but the last one of those was 1998.
It will definitely be the Marcus Ampitheatre and one, if not more, side stages on the general Summerfest grounds. The Marcus fits about 25K, so I suspect whoever headlines may be the kind of act that could play there regardless.
No word on a lineup. The yourmusicfest.com site says the name-the-fest winner will be announced in 74 days and change - I estimate April 16th. I'll assume that's about when they officially announce a lineup.
