^I thought the same thing, but vending doesn't seem like a strong enough reason for me. They capped handles of liquor at 2 per head and that hasn't stopped friends of mine from getting in an OBSCENE amount and making a pretty penny during the weekend....
Two thoughts; 1. They probably don't want the tent city to turn into one big keg party. 2. I've heard a number of stories of idiots throwing kegs into fires, 1/2 hour later the pressure exceeds the bursting point of the keg, BOOM, people die. It's most likely more the first concern, but maybe somewhat the second as well.
I brought a mini keg (5L) last year without issue -- i don't really think the guy saw it sitting in the floorboard. anything bigger and your car is likely to be torn asunder and your beer snatched
so not crunchy
i'd love to bring a 5gal cornie full of my belgian blonde, but i'd be devastated to see it taken
I have definitely given this thought, seeing as glass is prohibited & many of my beloved Wisconsin microbrews are not available in cans.
Transporting a full keg might get a bit costly. Your mileage may vary, but for me it's about 675 miles to Manchester. That and keeping it cool is probably costly.
I'm sure there's a sponsor or two that has a problem with bringing in ample amounts of your own beer as well.
Not to mention... would you trust an unattended keg (however empty/full, plus tapper) at your campsite, with deposits and everything? That's asking for it just as much as a Jolly Roger flag.
I brought a pony to a pre roo party Wed night with plans to bring the excess in with some milk jugs. However the entire thing got killed in like two hours so it did not matter anyway.
Another problem with my kegs to Bonnaroo plotting was the added logistical difficulty of keeping it untapped & cool until it was time to carry it to brunch.
Well I can get a cold keg to centeroo at the brewers tent, but I can not get it from there to brunch. We need to see if djjd will escort us with one using his infinity pass.
I'm talking about cold kegs of stuff that's only available here in Wisconsin. I somehow doubt we can arrange a cold one of those through in that same fashion.

This sounds like the beginning of a random parade to me...
ive seen small 5 gallon kegs hidden inside things.... well, small is relative.
but it has to be some heady brew that isn't bad when served somewhat warm. and by sunday, unless you have bought $100 in ice, it's just not going to be cold.
I wonder if layers of dry ice within a trash can or other receptacle would help with the cooling issue...
you would have to keep them separated far enough apart to keep from freezing the beer, but it could work. keeping the dry ice from sublimating is always an issue -- you can't keep it under pressure, else boom (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dry_ice_bomb)

I love it when Im on the main page and I look to see who made the last post in the thread and it says The VoiceOfReason. Not that I agree or disagree with him on any topic. Just for the fact that "The voice of reason" had the final word at that point in time.
