I just checked my email to find that Rothburry has been canceled this year. 10k lakes have done the same. What does this mean in the landscape of festivals. Do you think it will increase the Bonnaroo lineup or attendance?

And wow, you're like a walking, talking infomercial to turn people away from Pearl Jam and Ohio State, aren't you? Before you started posting here I quite liked Pearl Jam and was indifferent towards OSU, now I find myself wishing that Eddie Vedder falls down a mine shaft or that Columbus is infested with locusts

Hopefully a more Les Claypool-y Roo. I would be happy to have him back this year. I don't care if he's played 1,000,000 times before. He always makes for a good show.
I don't think there will be a massive increase in PAID attendance, but if the brahs at Superfly book some heady shows bro, expect some gate jumpers like in 04 with The Dead.
I would hope that we would get all the positives from the cancellations, and no negatives. Like, bigger, better bands that are more easily booked, but no massive crowds (not any more massive than usual anyway) and no quick sell out of the tickets.

I don't think it will have much of an impact on 'Roo as we can perceive it from this side of the fence. But I do think it's sad. That's a pretty big region of the country to lose both of their destination festivals. (Lolla doesn't count imho.)

I can't believe that both of these fests are over! I hope this means that the bands that would have only played these (i.e. The Dead playing only Rothbury last year) will look to Bonnaroo to play. This is only going to make Bonnaroo stronger, and while I'd hate to see them go, more power to the Roo for surviving and thriving.

I had hoped to attend each of these festivals at some point. Hurm.
Unfortunate that this is happening, if I hadn't attended Roo last year I wouldn't have seen any music last year. The bands I want to see are all skipping St. Louis if they are touring at all. That's why I'm so determined that I'll go to Roo this year. I just won't see live music otherwise.

I thought Rothbury's situation had as much to do with problems that were incurring with the land and its location. IE. Unhappy locals.
10,000 lakes hiatus really surprised me as I thought that had cemented their status as a festival pretty well. I don't understand how they couldn't book the artists they wanted all of a sudden after many years of solid lineups.

I'm really bummed about roth, never got to go, but it just confirmed my decision to buy a wanee ticket cause right now it is looking the most ligit for sure.
I think it's a sign that times are tough and it's going to be a smaller crowd. I say that because a ticket is just half the battle. You still need a lot of stuff to make it work that costs money.

I was just talking to a guy at the Schwag show the other night. He was looking for a free ticket, of course. But he was talking about how easy it was to sneak into festivals, esp Bonnaroo. He said that once he's in, it's no problem. Sucks for everyone who pays to see music. Hell I even pay for actual music instead of DLing for free.

It would be too stressful as well, I'd rather just buy my ticket in February and not worry about it. Also why would you not want to support something you love so much?

My first experience with gate crashers was at the Dead show in 95 that this song is about. Not a big Keller fan, but he sums it up pretty well in a very NSFW kinda way.

i saw some people get into centeroo with obviously fake wristbands. it was basically just green cloth wrapped around their wrist with electrical tape to mimic the black part, they got right in.

This needs to be posted everywhere, IMO, so somebody that matters becomes aware of it. Because as Keller would say:
if you're one of them and you hear this song quack yooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuu you Rush Limbaugh sucking motherquacker, man
edit: heh, mostly just did that to see what the filter would do with it these days
