I think DJJD's tweet re-assures that it is that easy, although you could make a case for KoL or My Morning Jacket, given the heavy talk of both bands on this site
Ugghh - I really don't want it to be Kings of Leon, but it does fit the clue pretty well. It fits better than My Morning Jacket, who would be one of the biggest draws for me to go back to Roo. Besides, Louisville's like 200+ miles away from Manchester, not really that local.

I know there's a lotta negativity towards kol on these boards but I just gotta say I got the chance to see um a few months ago when they came to milwaukee and they put on one HELL of a show.....even tho they all had the flu as they said they still came out and threw down for 2 hours.....they only played 3 songs off the new album, sex on fire, use somebody, and crawl (which is actually a pretty good song imo)
they DID play about 5 or 6 songs from aha shake heartbreak and put down great versions of a lotta the old good ones, tons of energy, enough crowd interaction, all in all I walked away reeeaaal impressed and I don't expect any less down on the farm

It looks like the lineup is really being held tight. This may be the third clue that we already "knew" was gonna play. Keeps my hopes up that there is gonna be something on the lineup that knocks us on our a$$.

Gregory Lenoir Allman (born December 8, 1947 in Nashville, Tennessee)
largely by wood = whipping post
"Whipping Post" is a song by The Allman Brothers Band. Written by Gregg Allman, the five-minute studio version first appeared on their 1969 debut album The Allman Brothers Band.

I'll go along with manchester orchestra for this one. It definitely fits pretty easy to the clue and compared to the other clues we've been trying to work through I could see how djjd would say this one is too easy.
Don't know if this is referring to the "at least one" artist on amish's list or if Manchester Orchestra has been un-hinted to up until this clue.
And wow, you're like a walking, talking infomercial to turn people away from Pearl Jam and Ohio State, aren't you? Before you started posting here I quite liked Pearl Jam and was indifferent towards OSU, now I find myself wishing that Eddie Vedder falls down a mine shaft or that Columbus is infested with locusts
I'm looking at Chuck Leavell and the bands he's ben playing with. Chuck is, among being a southern man (no NY reference intended), an active environmentalist (aka "tree-hugger). He's played with the Allman Brothers, a lot with the Rolling Stones, and some other acts. I'll let you know what I find.
Gov't Mule are relatively local and one of their long-standing and founding members was the late Allen Woody, meaning they "made good largely by Wood(y)"
Also, per Wiki, "in February, 2000, the band released Life Before Insanity, to critical praise, and although the band had already experienced previous successes, they anticipated a greater commercial success with this album. Unfortunately, Allen Woody was found dead in New York City in August of that year."
maybe he's refering to band that has been to a band that has been around roo a lot, so they are the local boys to the bonnaroo family, and they largley play acoustic?
