Our local radio station (WRNR, Annapolis) said that "it looks like My Morning Jacket might be the first show of the season at Merriweather [Post Pavilion] this year...details coming..."
Not sure how that bodes for Bonnaroo, but thought I'd share this uber-exciting news!
My fingers are crossed that they will make it near me before my due date....pretty soon I won't be able to travel and my due date is the day they play Jazzfest! Please send some Jim James vibes my way b/c Audrey wants to hear him sing in utero. She told me so.

I'm only hoping that when they announce the tour, tickets don't sell out instantly due to scalpers like a lot of the Phish and Wilco tickets i've recently wanted has happened. Hopefully they put a limit and it's will call only or something. No matter what.....I need a Jacket ticket when they have a tour

i can not wait for this to happen! ever since last year they have risen to become one of my favorite bands. also, the last time i saw them was in 2006 opening for Pearl Jam, and at that time i didn't know any of their songs, so i am so pumped for this!

Yeah, the Wilco shut-outs were heartbreaking. Even if they put a 4 ticket limit, can't those spambots get in and get more anyway? I don't really have an understanding of that whole other market thing.

Yea, I don't know all the specifics about the system and everything. I've heard that the method that Tom Waits and The Dead Weather use is the best way to avoid scalpers. A 2 ticket limit, will call only, you have to show your Credit Card or ID at the ticket window, and when you get your ticket you have to walk right in. You can't leave the venue after getting your ticket.
That seems the best way. I don't know what else they can do.....I just want to make sure I get an MMJ ticket
Is that what Dead Weather is doing now? I saw them 2x last year and don't recall that being the case. I think it's a great idea, but it does present a problem if the original purchaser can't make the show at the last minute. I wish all the aftermarkets would just be outlawed. UGH.

They did it when I saw them in November at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. Maybe it was just a one-time thing.
I think that they should allow the tickets to be transferrable, within reason. I mean if there's a limit it's not like the scalpers can buy a ton and transfer them.
That said, I'd rather put up with that small risk than not get any tickets at all.
I'm pretty sure they didn't do it at 9:30 Club or where I saw them in Denver (I think it was the Fillmore, but I can't remember). In any event, it'd be nice to not get shut out and then see tickets going for 5x face value on Craigslist ten minutes later. I like to think I'll get ticket karma b/c I've had plenty of extras and never scalped, but it doesn't necessarily work out that way

^^^ Chickenfoot did that at Irving Plaza and from what I could tell by the scene the scalpers were completely locked out from it
In any case, Merriweather holds almost 20,000 right? If that indicates average venue size of this tour, scalpers hoarding tix will NOT be a problem. I REALLY hope they play PNC Bank in NJ, that would make me HAPPY HAPPYHAPPY! ;D

I hate scalpers. Only one show that Ive gone to did the ID/will call thing and it was Sufjan Stevens. But it was for a tiny theatre. Tickets sold out in minutes and the line to get in was ridiculous. But, like someone above said, I'd be happy to put up with a little hassle than be shut out.
A Thieve's Parade 2/24 Conspirator 2/26 Kevin Smith 3/11 Keller 3/17 Papadosio 3/18 JJ Grey 3/25 Bela Fleck/Edgar Meyer 3/26 Toubab Krewe 3/27 O'Death 4/11 Budos Band 4/22 EOTO 4/28 Summer Camp 5/6-29 All Good
Thus far, looks like official dates for St. Augustine and Charleston the week following their appearance at Jazz Fest. Capacity is 4,500 and 1,400, respectively. Tiny!
