Understood. But, the territory around that house is defended by territorial primates, who I assume are the owners and are prone to occasional violence. The punch to someone's throat I saw last year was less than a Christian gesture, and worse, very un'Rooly. I don't know if the tent is on ground rented from the owners of that house, but if so, I wonder if it is a tax-evasion scheme by renting space to a religious charity organization?
No one associated with the M.T.M. tent will be punching anyone out and as far as I know the church has rented the property just like the other vendors.
If you all come to the tent via New Bushey Branch Road you have nothing to be concerned with.

OK, I'll bring a gun and a knife when I go bumming water and fruit, just in case.
No need for weapons. Just listen to the friendly Bonnaroo volunteers when they advise you to walk away.
I’m not sure what the situation was with the violence around the More Than Music tent but I can assure you that whoever threw the punch was not affiliated with the Church group in any way. There are vendors that setup in front of the house and they do have to pay for use of the land. Since the More Than Music Tent does not charge anything whatsoever and we do this only to demonstrate God's love for people through us we do not pay for use of the land. The owner obviously does not have problem with Bonnaroo attendees or they wouldn’t do this in the first place. We also are setup behind the vendors because we do not pay for use of the land so we don’t get the premium roadside spots. We are located directly behind the driveway of this home.

This is what makes it interesting. The owners of the land collect rent from vendors on the property. At the same time, the owners donate the use of a substantial amount of property, rent free, to a charitable religious organization.
I don't know how the tax laws work, but it would seem the property owners could claim an amount "donated" to the church as the amount of rent not collected if the space was rented out to vendors selling merchandise. This "scheme," if it is being done, might be entirely legal. But, you'd have to look into the hearts of the property owners to judge if it is ethical.
Just to clear up any misunderstanding about the payment methods of the More Than Music tent. We DO pay to rent the land. In fact, every thing at the tent is paid for by various church members around Tennessee who believe in this ministry. We accept no donations, and we make no money. We just want people to know that we care for them. So come check us out! We've got FREE sunscreen, toothpaste, coffee, tea, lemonade, internet, fruit, snacks, and more. You can also hang out under the tent at any of our tables and chairs and enjoy a nearby fan. Happy Bonnaroo!!
Walked by a number of times, but waited til Sunday morning to stop in. Had a donut, coffee, and sweet tea. Very great things going on here. They had laptops set up for use, and could recharge your phone. They were more than generous.
Thank You MTM. You definately added to the positive vibe I felt all weekend.
I passed by it every morning and grabbed a banana and water. Everyone there was SUPER nice and friendly. and knowing that it is a church group I was pleased/impressed they weren't shoving their faith down my throat. They had stuff there for you if you were interested, but they weren't like you cant have this if you don't take a pamphlet (but im sure they knew if they did that that knew they would be wasting paper. I hate when you go there and they become some what of a buzz killington.
The More than Music Tent is located in the same place as prior years. Look for the big red & white tent, on the opposite side of the house near the ferris wheel located just off of New Bushey Branch road.
New additions this year.... free wi-fi and plenty of cellphone charging stations (charging cords not included) )
All the usually 'free' goodies are available this year. Water, coffee, sweet tea, lemonade, fruit, crackers, shampoo, soap and shade.
No money - no tips required. All is provided with the love of Jesus.
The tent was located right near the ferriswheel outside of centerroo. Visited thursday morning and enjoyed an apple and some lemonade and took some chips for a snack for later! very nice people!
