Anybody here check out the More than Music tent at Bonnaroo? The one with the free fruit and water... ice. Um. Hand sanitizer... free stuff. Like everything was free there. I just wanted to know if anyone saw it too?
Ah. Well. You go out the Shakedown Street (I think) exit, and It's just a little behind the vendors that are on the main road. Like. There are all the vendors... then there is a house behind them.... then next to the house is the tent. It's pretty nice. Blue and white tent. Big tent. Considered a vendor.

See, I had a campsite really close to Centeroo, so other than looking for delicious corn, I didn't really venture out into the masses. I will look for it this year though. And crunchies to you whenever I can give them again...
we were camped right by that tent last year and i hit it up every night before going back to our camp site....if its the same one im thinking of. i think they also had free iced tea and/or lemonade and they were giving away free haircuts too. if i remember correctly they were all volunteers from a local church and were more than willing to talk about the bible with you but they weren't pushy about it which is kind of rare. One of them was running around our campsite on saturday telling everyone about a storm that was worse than the one that hit on thursday was coming through and that we were in its direct path. My weather channel app told me otherwise.

Might this, perchance, be the same church whose members handed out the "Christian apologist" bottles of water to people waiting in line? I thought that was kinda cool.

Were they apologizing for all of other "christians" who told us we were all going to hell? Damn I hate religion.

I was camped right by that place, about 15 minutes from centeroo. It was awesome- free fresh fruit, drinks, hand sanitizer lol, and a few other things. I went there each morning to get some grub. They were very friendly people which somewhat surprised me because I expected them to be more pushy about their religion. I hope I can find that tent again next year
and @ mrflannery- I had forgotten about the free haircuts until your post reminded me. I didn't get one, but a saw a few people take advantage of it. Anyone here get one of the free haircuts?
I don't think the whole deal was apologizing, but yep. Same one. We were trying to do what we could as Jesus would. Very cool. Glad to see people were there! I may have met some of you. I may be messaging you guys about something.

That's the concept. I mean. We have a message. We are firm in our beliefs. We want to tell you. Just. We don't want to come across as if we think that that we are... "higher than thou" or whatever. That's the purpose of the tent. I remember a church out there that put some signs and stuff that more than likely pushed people away.
We focus on the relationship and faith in Christ first, and then we'll talk about lifestyle. The relationship matters more to us because the lifestyle comes out of it. Like. There are certain things I'll do and not do, but it's not because I'm afraid I'll go to Hell. It's because I want to honor Jesus and live more like Him, but that came after the start of my faith. It's a process that keeps going.
We have had many people paint bad pictures of the church and who followers are I guess. The tent really helps though. Service is how Jesus got people's attention. I wish I could see more of that coming from my people. I hope to see all of you sometime--even if it isn't for an in-depth discussion. Come eat and drink. It'd be great. I'm a local, so I look forward to it. I'll more than likely be walking around with a video camera, though.
Another great aspect of the More Than Music tent is it's availability 24/7 Wednesday through Sunday. It's a cool place to chill out prior to afternoon performances and a dry place to warm up with some coffee or hot chocolate after a passing rain shower.

I'd watch myself in that area. I saw someone confronted by the vendors who had their own camping area near that house. Merely trying to gain access to the tent camping field behind the house, a vendor punched him in the throat and threatened to call the police. Very nasty business, and thoroughly unroolike.
Can anyone sort of describe that location on the Bonnaroo map? I'd like to go out there.
I'll try and direct you as if you were coming out of the Bonnaroo arch. Take 3rd Ave north til it dead-ends at New Bushey Branch (N.B.B.) Road, then turn right onto N.B.B. Road. Look for a house on the left side of the road (behind the vendors). On the right side of the house (near the driveway) you will find the large blue and white tent, with the 'More Than Music' banner in front. Hope that helps.
Glad to see people like the More Than Music tent. We will also be having live music about 9:30 or 10 CST Sunday morning. We will also be giving away frisbees, fruit, water, bandanas, and other stuff. Anyone is welcome to stop by and visit with us, we would be glad to have you!
I am copying where it is located directly from bocephus74.

is the house where it says private property on the map?
the big blue blob by pod 9?
I want to repeat, as recent as last year I witnessed a physical encounter between a festival attendee and the vendors and residents situated on the property surrounding that house. Bonnaroo security were posted around the property, directing campers to walk around the property on their way onto the festival grounds. My guess is the property owners were reserving their property for the exclusive use of vendors on that side of the street, who were renting space from the owners of the house and adjacent property.

It's in a tent, not a house.
Understood. But, the territory around that house is defended by territorial primates, who I assume are the owners and are prone to occasional violence. The punch to someone's throat I saw last year was less than a Christian gesture, and worse, very un'Rooly. I don't know if the tent is on ground rented from the owners of that house, but if so, I wonder if it is a tax-evasion scheme by renting space to a religious charity organization?

OK, I'll bring a gun and a knife when I go bumming water and fruit, just in case.
