Can I be dropped off at bonnaroo? First time going, and my ride may not want to attend, can they drive in and help me set up camp and leave? Or how would that go down?
Without a ticket you can't enter through the tollbooths to get into the campgrounds. I am not sure what they would say about someone walking up to the campgrounds, but I am sure it has been done. I would start be sending an email to Bonnaroo and ask them what they have set up for those who walk in as opposed to drive or take a shuttle.

I totally just walked in last year on Thursday night. There were no problems. A really sketchy guy drove me and 4 other guys (none of whom he or I knew) from the Nashville. It was quite an adventure. I digress. He dropped us off in a long line of cars, and we just walked right through to the gates with our bags in tow.
But your friend will not be able to go in and help you set up camp. No one can get into the campgrounds without a ticket.

your friend cant come in but you can get dropped off.
i know people who did this. none of them had any problems. i also saw a lot of people walking along with backpacks as i was going into the festival in my car. i would have offered them a ride but they were making better time than i was in my car!

also...people will hlep you set up. if no one helps you either hook up on here or go to the inforoo brunch and someone will help. i almost went by myself and i had offers to help me.
Your ride might not be able to get very close to drop you off depending on when you arrive and how long he/she wants to wait in line. Might be best to have them drop you at Walmart on Wed night and you can catch a ride with someone from there.
If you end up getting dropped off at the festival I would get dropped at the temporary highway entrance. This would be the easiest for somene to get to as all you have to do is drive past the long line of cars and get dropped off on the other side of the gate and then this is the shortest walk to tent only.
I'm surprised no one mentioned this already, but since you will essentially be walking in sans vehicle, you should set up your tent in the Tent Only area. Location will be indicated on the map (in the book) you get when you enter the farm; location is close to Centeroo where the stages are. In the past Tent Only has been outside of, but adjacent to VIP area.

Yea just to add to this I walked in my first year after taking the bus to manchester. Absolutely no problems, and like fordgoose said, set right up in tent only.
I grew up worshipping Rock and Roll like a religion. I know its shortcomings and strengths but have loved it unconditionally all the same since I was eight-years old. I ran away and joined the circus and honestly, I'm still as obsessed as I was as a boy. I'm not a kid anymore but I still remember how it felt and it doesn't really feel all that different to me now.

don't know about the search for those who walk in, but as long as you don't look suspicious, they typically just wave you through... As for the wait to get in, if you're gonna be walking in, your friend can't drive you in, but (as mentioned above) they can drive you past the long lines to the road that leads in and drop you there. As it goes you can probably walk to the toll booth faster than getting in by car anyway. Just hustle to tent-only and travel as light as possible.
Do you get searched walking in? Also, the temporary highway entrance is available without a long wait?
I parked in the neighborhood right across the Interstate and walked in one year to avoid the Thursday traffic (I've got family in Manchester and stay with them). The security people looked confused when I walked up to the booths on foot with my ticket and asked for my wristband, but I didn't get searched. I guess they figured I'd get searched going into Centeroo anyway, and there was no need since I didn't have a bag or anything with me. Obviously, it might be different if you've got all of your supplies/tent/etc. on your back.
