I've switched cars since last Roo, and now I have a pickup. I was thinking If I got one of these to sleep in, So I'll have a lot more room for our 10ft EZ up and such.

my first year, i didnt even use a tent. i just put the easy up over the truck. put a tarp over the cab and bed, and put poles in the bed to keep the tarp up and locked everything in the truck when i left. saves money on a tent and still keeps you in. only no windows to open when it gets hot.
The first couple Roos, before I had my truck camper shell, I just set up cheap canopy and slept outside on a cot ('02, '03), then I upgraded to a hammock ('04, '05) and in '07 move to sleeping "inside" using the camper top. Have a big utility van now that may be my new "Roo camper"

I ordered that exact one for Roo last year and it rocks. Much more space in your site, not sleeping on the possible wet ground. It even withstood that crazy Thursday night storm. It takes a little longer to set up that a regular tent but well worth it. I suggest getting the blow up mattress that is shaped specifically for a truck bed.
This looks like it could be a great idea. I would be nice if you could set it up before you left home, but that probably would be no good. I may look into getting one of these though. I may second think about not driving my truck to roo now.

Since you're not far from the farm, I say hell yeah bring your truck. They can be awful handy for many things like creating extra shade, keeping your site cleaner, or using the bed to camp in. I miss my truck.

It seems like putting a mattress in the bed of a truck with a camper top would be ideal. I never thought of the camper top idea considering I don't have a pickup. The guys camped to the right of us last year just slept in their little two-door car. We had a really clever setup, though. I bet they felt like idiots.
I grew up worshipping Rock and Roll like a religion. I know its shortcomings and strengths but have loved it unconditionally all the same since I was eight-years old. I ran away and joined the circus and honestly, I'm still as obsessed as I was as a boy. I'm not a kid anymore but I still remember how it felt and it doesn't really feel all that different to me now.
We didn't have that bad of a time with the Thursday storm (just a little water in the tent) but yah, I'd love to be off the ground.
we must have caught one of those nasty TN thunderstorm stright line winds. It blew down both of our EZ ups, and one of my buddies tents. I slept dry that night and they suffered.
Yeah I lost a shower tent and the wind some how bent my ez up a little at the top. It blew the fly off my tent with me in it. Some how we saved everything from getting wet and blowing off. Every thing was staked down twice, we must have caught a nasty gust, also. It destroyed a lot of camps near us, but liberated some nice branches and our friends who flew here from new zealand with nothing used them to build a pretty impressive crude shade structure. There was a picture of what appears to be the forming of a funnel cloud on bonnaroo.com I remember it was wicked... community.bonnaroo.com/_Thursday-Massacre/photo/4131077/12058.html
