but the first was crappy becasue it ruined what was a great show. The dude was totally out of control and innapropriate and I was actually thanked and applauded by the other people in our proximity when I dealt with him. So I dont find anything wrong with what we did. My exact words to him were "do you want to see what I do to people who get physical with women? to which he responded by laughing in my face so yes I spit in his face and knocked him to the ground. I should have punched him. I didnt put the whole story in there becasue the post was getting too long. Anyway, you took it way out of context and becasue I am a mellow person I actually undereacted. Anyway, have fun at the DKM St. Paddy's day I was at the Avalon (I think that was the place, it was right across from Fenway) for one of the shows in 2007. It was a great show, but it wasn'ty anymore violent than other punk shows. Defintiely one of the most fun times Ive ever had at a show.
peace!
I can sympathize with what your saying - and yeah, i just sort of glanced over your first post, just found it odd you were complaining about violence at punk shows.
probably the only time i recall where anything like that happened to me was at a ministry show. this guy kept slamming into my group and everyone around us - over and over and over - we told him to stop but he wouldnt. anyway, i eventually had enough, grabbed the guy and threw him to the floor in the middle of the pit. there was actually some cheering afterwords i was slightly nervous the guy was going to get up and come back to whoop my ass, but he got the hint.
FYI, the avalon and axis are no more - they were bought out and remodeled to become the House of Blues. A nicer club, but some of that independent feel was lost in the process.
my experience with DKM was skewed from the time i saw them open for the sex pistols - as soon as they came on, these skinhead fans rushed the front and kicked down all the seats. it was... intense.

Were cool Idioteque
I watched a similar experience occur at a Megadeth show recently. Some dude who never left the 80s thrash scene totally pushed his way to the front of the balcony at the club and stood in front of a dude in a wheelchair. The smallest guy in the vicinity just went up berated him. The dude turned around and goes what are you gonna do little man and the group of about thirty people behind all immediately got the dudes back. The guy finally got drug away by his super embarassed wife or gf. It was a great scene. Apparently more assholes show up at punk and Metal shows, wonder why - haha.
A friend of mine got kicked in the head and was knocked out by a crowd surfer at a Flogging Molly concert. I can deal with moshers because you pretty much know where they are and can move out of the way. Crowd surfers sneak up from behind. I don't like crowd surfers.

Yeah, it gets really annoying when you are constantly looking back to make sure you don't get kicked in the head by a crowd surfer, rather than watching he show.

No matter what the show I'm seeing....i simply look around and see what the majority of ppl are doing. If everyone is standing, I stand. If everyone is sitting, I sit. If they dance, I try to dance. The problem occurs when a couple is making out and then I try to make out too, with them. That's not acceptable I've noticed. LOL im just kidding. I bring my own g/f

The teeny boppers that piss us crotchety old codgers off these days will one day reminisce about paying 20 bucks to scream a conversation about pants to their friends, like "you remember back in the day when we went to the Orange Peel and talked about pants? I can't remember who played. But we totally talked about pants without texting each other all night long! Those were the days, those were the days."
