question for Jungle Fever: who would be appearing as Buena Vista Social Club, considering a number of the more prominent musicians from that group have died since the movie/album came out?
2010: 3/12: The Bad Plus/Happy Apple/Buffalo Collision/The Bad Apple 6/10-13: Bonnaroo 6/19: Rock the Garden 7/30-31: Mid West Music Fest 8/21: Los Hombres Calientes 8/31: Marijuana Death Squads 9/11: The Book of Right On w/ City on the Make 9/23: Of Montreal w/ Janelle Monae 10/4: Broken Social Scene 11/23: Grinderman
^ It's not my poster (I didn't enter this), but BVSC still plays shows, billed as always. Manuel "Guajiro" Mirabal (the trumpet player) and Barbarito Torres are still in the band, and I think Eliades Ochoa is a sometime member. Manuel Galban replaces Ry Cooder on guitar. Not sure if they have a pianist to replace Ruben or if anyone sings Ibrahim's old songs.
I went with Valencero for that Violent Femmes reunion show.
I was also surprised to see Pale Young Gentlemen on the bill. I would've thought them to be just a local Madison band nobody here would have heard of...
to whoever's behind this.
Also... passport, knowing zero Portuguese and the expense would probably keep me from attending Jungle Fever even if it did exist...

Even though Stevie Wonder sung the title track to the movie that shares a name with the fest he could only get 10th billing behind Soundgarden,John Mayer,Justice, and Prodigy.
