ran across this on amazon and was wondering if something like this would be too big if you're camping by your car. i thought it would be great to set this up and then you could have your sleeping tent and a hang out area all basically inside of this. its 30x30 though so i dont kow if it would be an ahole move to take up that much space. thanks for the help!

Looks like a bunch of wasted space anyways. Just go with a 10 x 10 ez up. They try to pack us in like sardines when they park you. Officially, Bonnaroo says you get a 10 foot spot behind of, or in front of your car.
You could fit it in Tent Only if you got there real early.

that's probably a little large, but here's what you do regardless...
make sure your tents/tarps/big stuff is easily accessible, and as soon as you're parked, start throwing your crap on the ground and spread it out. preferably straight back instead of side to side(you'll have neighbors to the sides but not behind you yet). if you've got you're stuff semi set up, they'll be forced to park the next row of cars farther back.

^ I dunno, last year the car parked in front of us had their tent set up and were almost finished setting up their easy up in a very very small space. The volunteer kept yelling at them to move it so our car could go there, but there was absolutely nowhere for them to move it. He literally picked their ez- up out of the ground and moved it himself. Pointless, because seeing as we had TONS of space behind us, we just backed up and gave the guys room after douchebag left.

The parking companies are assholes and they probably get paid to be. I know there is limited space but there is just no order to it at all. Once we saw what kind of a mess we were going to be in, we moved to tent only.

well, we had a group of about 6 or so cars, and about 5 or 6 tents, as well as ez ups. it would have been a logistic impossibility to tell us to move. but if you're in a smaller group, i can see where it might be a problem.
ended up going to sears and got this ezup style 10x10 on sale for $50
also bought a cheaper one to put over my sleeping tent to try and keep it cool in the morning that just has the 4 corner poles and a top with fiberglass tent poles.
You know how they direct you where to park, right next to the car in front of you when pulling in? Could you leave about 6 feet of space in between vs just edging up close like most people would to create a little extra space or will the parking people take their job extra serious and make you repark?

I think i'm going to give it a shot trying to get as much space inbetween cars without going overboard. A couple feet wouldn't hurt anyone.
might as well. once you pull in, if you shut off your car and get out its not like theyre gonna get a tow truck to move you. if theyre being a jerkstore, just ignore them. they'll get over it...
I sort of tried this technique of getting a little more space on the sides last year but the parking people were standing right in the way, like they stationed themselves so that I couldn't possibly pull wider than they wanted to without taking one or two of them out. It didn't matter anyway because we were in deep BFE and walked our stuff in to tent only, but it wasn't very possible when I tried. Not that that means anything.

Apparently someone didn't think so. Check out the camp setup I saw in another thread, it looks like they used the same setup. It's a little more Leaning Tower of Pizza than Mt. Everest but still cool.
Looks like it would be a pain to squeeze in somewhere. In the reviews I found I saw people were using them at burning man but that's the middle of the desert, don't really have to worry about not having enough room.
