I'm not from B-town but i am from southern indiana. i go to bloomington some times and have always had fun! All of you seem like some very cool people. this will be my 8th time going and i am always down to party so i hope that i run into some of you! and i do honestly think it gets better every year. Although i doubt anything can top the 07 superjam but thats just me. i guess i will have to wait and see.i havent posted much on here but i plan on starting, but i will admit i can't spell for shit!

I haven't seen thievery Corporation yet but i plan on checking them out. Also i always kinda thought that my spelling problem was a result from being from Indiana! Thankfully in my profession i don't have to write often. I am pretty stoked for bonnaroo this year even though a lot of people seem to hate the line-up. Breaking news! just found out i have a spell checker on here so now i shouldn't look so stupid anymore! just disregard my non spelling skills statements.
Well I saw them at Rothbury 08. They had a belly dancer, fireblower and guy playing a huge sitar among other things. It was ridiculous - amazing music. I had never heard them before. It ended up being my favorite show of the festival. The crowd had the best energy for them.
So I said if I could make it to see them again I would, and now this year I'm coming to Roo.
Hopefully they get a night slot. That was part of what made the Rothbury show so good.
Regarding the lineup I think it looks fine. Many of the bands I don't know very well or at all but I kind of like it that way. It sets you up for a spoiler show to stumble onto and be surprised.
Question for the Bloomington folks - do most of you take I65 thru Louisville or Hwy 37 and go thru Owensboro and Bowling Green? I may be going alone this year and some family/friends are concerned about this. I am trying to find people in the SW Indiana or Western Kentucky area to head down with if I need to.
OK - another question for Bloomington folks - Boz and I are heading to Bloomington in July - need a decent enough hotel to stay in for a couple of nights.
Recommendations??? It'll be the two of us and our 5 year old. My g'mother lives over Nashville, IN way in Brown County. She is over 90 so I really need to get up there and spend some time with her.
I'm not much help on the hotel tip, there are plenty of decent hotels around but I've been to very few of them (considering I live here hah). I guess it just depends on what you are wanting to spend, but unless you go to a hotel that is obviously seedy looking (which would honestly be kind of hard to find anyway) I think you'll be alright. There are also some nice bed and breakfast type places in Bloomington and Nashville both.
Krunchykat - I usually go the I65 route when I head south.

Meg, there are several hotels. Typical Holiday Inns and such on 37. I'd stay at the Hilton just because it's downtown close to things. You should take your kid to Wonderlab. She's at a good age for that. If you send insidejoke a pm, I guarantee she'll have answers for you because her boyfriend is the executive director of tourism or something like that, plus she's lived here longer than Adam and I.

Aha - that was the kind of information I was looking for - thank you!!

Meg, the downtown ones get a little more pricey in the summer. There is the Country Hearth Inn on North Walnut that is usually pretty good value and when we came to town to look for house before we moved back we stayed there. Also next to it is Motel 6. Usually I stay away from them but this one isn't that bad. Let us know when you are coming in town, maybe we the girls and I can hook up with boz and meg crew for an afternoon of fun, food, site seeing and general debauchery with a few shenanigans.......and I will not even mention the word republican or degrading nicknames I have for them :0)

HOTEL RECOMMENDATIONS
If you want to stay in Brown County (Abe Martin Lodge, has an indoor water park and is located inside a state park): www.in.gov/dnr/parklake/inns/abe/
And we will def let everyone know when we will be there! Part of the fun of coming up will be the opportunity to hang out with some people since we won't get to see ya'll at 'roo this year =(
Cutest little bed and breakfast downtown, convenient to many things (Grant Street Inn): www.grantstinn.com/
This would be great if we were coming by ourselves - but apparently - "due to their fine furnishings" they do not allow children under 12.
I found that funny because my house has basically nothing but antiques in it and my 12 year old would be the more likely one to break or ruin something - not the 5 year old - LOL

Hope Indy isn't so far from Bloomington that I'm shunned...
Just thought I'd say hello. Only very recently decided to make this year my first Bonnaroo, so still working out the logistics, and hopefully finding friends to go with me. Definitely looking forward to it.

Just Cole. The other I was talking about is Andrea, not sure how she is getting down there. I'm sure we can cram my car full of gear if you're going to have Andrea and.....I'm drawing a blank on your friend that you have to pick up at the airport. Anyways, we'll make it work.

Jordan. I was talking to him about this yesterday. We could either transfer some of my crap to your car or Andrea could hop in your car in Nashville and Jordan could ride shotgun with me the rest of the way. It's a minor issue, either way. The more major issue for me is going to be getting enough hours off of work without having to quit my job haha. I just realized that Hangout is going to sap most of my PTO hours, and I won't make that many back up in a month, probably not enough to take three whole days off. Currently waiting for a reply from my bosses to see what my fate will be. Hopefully they'll let me work on a Saturday or something to make up some hours, or just let me take some unpaid time off.

That's why I've saved all of my PTO for the summer. I have no idea how I forgot his name. Work on saturday would suck but as long as it's in the name of Roo.

I'm a long time lurker. I go down with a group of around 20 from Sullivan. So we end up taking US 41 south before cutting across to Nashville.
I used to live in Terre Haute..just take 41 all the way down through evensville then t turns to Breathitt/Pennyrile Pkwy for about 100 miles or so to I 24 ...it is a lot easier drive and hardly in police or speed traps.
saw u said bloomington in your post. i live in princeton IN, which is like a 2 hour drive away from b-town and i need a ride. if you or anyone you know has an extra seat it would be AMAZING. i have money to contribute to gas. and i'm pretty cool to chill with. so please. hit me back!. thanks-jess
hie. its me again. uhm if any of you bloomington people have an extra seat in your ride...i can get to bloomington and meet you there if you can give me a ride to roo! i can provide gas money and my mom has a food stamp card so i can get loads of foods. and i'll have my own tent and all that. i just need someone to help me out.
