unless you camp in that small section right by the trees, bugs are basically non-existent at roo. check for ticks periodically though, they seem to be the only real pest as far as bugs go.
well it does say on wikipedia "Cicadas are the most efficient and loudest sound-producing insects in the world.".... but theres no way thats going to interfere with hundreds of thousands of people and really loud music.... does anyone know if there bothersome to humans besides their noise???

i thought the cicadas were only a problem in illinois? i really hope they aren't prevalent at b-roo. the last thing i want is a few cicadas stuck to my sweaty upper-thigh/sac region.

Yeah, they sleep underground for like seventeen years, and then they hatch and burrow up.
A couple of years ago they came back up, and they made one hell of a racket here in Knoxville. You would drive by where they were and you could just hear this crazy buzzing sound, like a UFO or something, some kind of weird power tool.
They still wouldn't be able to compete with Bonnaroo's sound systems, though.
here in central illinois they have been "singing" for about 3 weeks now - we live in the country and they start at 5 in the morning and shut up at dusk - they're driving me crazy - even Tool can't drown them out
I've lived here for 10 years and only seen them once........
We have, most predominatly, in TN the 17 years variety. We do get a small 13 year group, but they mostly pop up every 17 years. That is why you have only seen them once!
