This year I am traveling with three other people (4 total) their are 2 boys and 2 girls. We are planning on driving a honda accord. + we r all volunteering with postfest cleanup. We pretty much have a trunk and a sliver of a backseat for a tent, cooler, 4 sleeping bags, and 4 duffle bags. Is this crazy? Does anyone have any pointers for me!?
test pack the car. you don't want to wait til you are about to leave to find out it won't all fit
^^this
We had 3 people in a G6 coupe last year and figured everything would be all gravy. Spent a really long time in the afternoon packing and unpacking and repacking to make everything fit. Had to leave behind a few things. Rookie mistake from a veteran rooer.
Also when are you volunteering? Do not get any consumables until after you get there, just drive out to walmart once you are unpacked.
Great advice. Also, if you do this you can have an empty cooler, and can pack one or two of the sleeping bags in there. Also, pack the remaining sleeping bags last, and roll them out over everything in the trunk.
The last time I took a cramped road trip it was 5 people in a Jetta and we rented one of those car top soft carriers for ~$20, but we still had to get creative Pack a 'front seat bag' that has all the communal stuff you'll need on the ride. Explore using empty space around your spare tire. Sometimes there is a lot of wasted space under the floor of the trunk. Unroll the sleeping bags and cram them in to fill space that would be wasted. And make sure that whatever cooler you bring will actually fit in the trunk!

^This lady makes 2 very good points! Every year I pack things around the spare tire in my Civic (mostly thousands of glow sticks ). And my boy, who also drives a Civic, was a first timer last year and made the mistake of buying a cooler that didn't fit in his trunk (I didn't even think about telling him to be sure). So we ended up having to put it in his back seat and load it up after it was in the car-- huge hassle.

I did last year a trip from orlando to manchester with 5 people in a mitsubishi lancer. Packing was a game of tetris. We managed to fit 2 tents, our canopy, medium cooler, and sleeping stuff in the trunk though. I also filled every nook, cranny, and compartment left in my car with extra beer cans and water bottles, because the cases wouldn't fit anywhere. I told everyone to only bring a bag small enough to fit on their lap. Then everyone sat on their pillows. Thank god I was driving, because they didn't look comfortable at all. But it worked.
Pack SMART, and strongly consider investing in either a roof rack or some ratchet straps (or both!)
i agree with this. definitely possible if you do some trial and error beforehand. thought i should mention that last year we didnt have a shade tent and used the tailgate on a subaru station wagon for seating and shade so that saved a lot of room, but thats a lot bigger than an accord to begin with. ive spent lots of time in a 2000 honda accord and think it can be done if you don't mind sacrificing some stuff. also as mentioned above try to think of things you could easily get at the wal-mart to save money.

Consolidate...one year...I had 3 chicas from a ride board hop in my car...and every one of them had to have THEIR OWN roll of toilet paper, THEIR OWN paper towels, THEIR OWN bottle of shampoo, etc. Not to mention, they didn't just pack enough clothes for the weekend...they packed their entire wardrobes (seemingly) so they could make their fashion decisions DOWN THERE!! Eeeks!! They all knew each other, and as much as I love em...they coulda been a lil smarter....
Last year it was 3 guys, 2 girls in a Jeep Cherokee. Had to leave a couple chairs behind, and also filled every nook and cranny. And sat on pillows and unrolled sleeping bags. When we were in line to get searched we just looked at the guy like he was crazy if he wanted to open the hatch and search b/c all of our stuff would have fallen out
