Reposted from elsewhere, here's my tentative schedule:
Saturday: Nneka Bondy/Trappers (could go either way, will be seeing both in the next few months. Bondy will undoubtedly put on the better set but I do like to support my Trappers) Brandi Carlile Calexico/Yim Yames (worst conflict ughhhh. Will be seeing Yim earlier in the week and lots this fall but...possibility of special guests and....just....ughhhhh. Haven't seen Calexico since November '08 ) Dawes John Prine
Sunday: Cory Chisel Punch Brothers Avetts/Preservation Hall (probably Avetts as I've seen PH a number of times this year already) Richie Havens/Felice Brothers/Ben Sollee & Daniel Martin Moore (think I gotta go Richie Havens? Haven't seen Felice Bros in a while, but will be seeing Ben Sollee/Daniel Martin Moore earlier that week and have seen them both recently) Justin Townes Earle Levon Helm
Newport Folk Festival BAD NEWS > GOOD NEWS!! Yes, unfortunately it's true; Justin Townes Earle sliced his hand and needs 19 Stitches, so he will not be able to play his 1st Newport Folk. HOWEVER, the Folk Gods were indeed smiling for exactly 45 minutes after receiving the news our good friends, Elvis Perkins In Dearland happened to call us ...for tickets to come to the festival simply as fans. We said we could do one better...and asked them if they would like to play...and they said YES!!!!
OMG!
Sorry to hear about Justin. But um .............. ELVIS PERKINS!
I'm listening to this off and on on NPR. Yesteray caught some O'Death, Andrew Bird, and I forget the other one. Today so far Sharon Jones and now Preservation Hall. Good stuff.
^^^^it might be, but this is more of satire, The Onion is fake news. Many years ago Dylan attend the Newport music fest and people wanted to hear his acoustic folk, but three song into the set he busted out the electric stuff and many people were bummed, even pissed. This is a spin on that. Still Dylan spinning? for sure a changing of the times!
