a 12 by 24 tarp.. with a 9 by 8 tent and a 10 by 10 shade canopy.
the idea is to run the tarp from the back of the car (over the back seats and over the trunk, to keep it somewhat cooler and trunk access), then over the tent and connect it to the shade canopy.
basically:
....T - A - R - P C a r - Tent - Canopy ....T - A - R - P
It'll be 10 feet wide and around 16 - 17 feet long, but we could squeeze it to only 13 or 14 feet long if we need to
Sound like a good set up? I'll be camping at high falls in a few days and test it out..
ALSO: We'd like to met up with some people to camp with. Especially if you are going to Wakarusa before roo, or Dexfest after roo. It's only me and my girlfriend. Message me if you'd like to camp together and meet up.

That sounds like a good set up for just two people. I would suggest blankets or smaller tarps for the sides as a shade cloth. It will make the sunrise, and, especially, the sunset more tolerable.

Be careful with how you attach the tarp to the car and the canopy.....it sounds like if it rains you're going to end up carefully directing all the water right into your campsite!
sounds kind of like what we did last year, with the tent and canopy switched this year we are adding another canopy for over the tent. trunk access was a BIG plus. definitely let us know how your trial run went!

well if there is space in between the tent and blanket/tarp over the tent, it should be cooler, if it is simply laying on top of it, it's going to be insulating it and make it hotter in my opinion.
I think I might bring a white sheet (really thin) that I don't need to reflect the sunlight.
Sounds like a good idea, but don't forget to test it out to make sure that it's still thick enough to block out the sun, we brought two really cheap sheets last year and they didn't do much for us.. haha. Tarps work best in my opinion, but you can make anything work.

Some tarps come with one blue side and one silvery side. For shade put the silvery side up and it's better than a white sheet. Plus it won't piss your neighbors off like it will if you use mylar.

believe it or not the little ceiling fan/light combos you can get for your tent really do keep it cool and just run on batteries. Our tent wasn't covered in anyway and it never got too hot. We also had our cooler inside our tent which probably added to keeping it cool.
