Yea seeing them in Toronto still, which I'm incredibly pumped for.
I had a friend in NYC who I could stay with but he moved back to Buffalo, so now I'm going to sink the money I would have spend on that trip into a new stereo/turntable.
Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to make the NYC shows the 16th and 17th. I'm going to sell these tickets for FACE VALUE which is 30 bucks each with fees included. Paypal is probably the easiest way to pay me if you're interested. Pm me.
Just making sure this gets on this page for anyone interested who missed out on the on sale date.
Anyone know of an extra ticket for the Philadelphia show this weekend? Still going by myself at this point and I have a handful of friends looking. Let me know?
I'm not going tonight, but I went the past three nights. If you want a review/set lists of those nights let me know and I'll be happy to provide them.
This would be most excellent. I'd like to know a little bit of what I'm in store for.
Yeaaaa, you got it.
For those who don't want to know anything, I would stop reading now.
Monday: Storm - Sleep - some song i've never heard before (but i have a feeling it might have been gamelan, but i really have no reason to think this). - Providence - Static - Moya - Blaise Bailey
Wednesday: The only change in the set list was Rockets Fall on Rocket Falls instead of Providence
Thursday: Storm - Sleep - the IDK song - Moya - 09 15 00 part 2 - Static - Cowboy (excerpt from Dead Flag Blues) - East Hastings
-Each show was just under 2 and a half hours. -They were really LOUD. -The film is real 8mm, and complements the music perfectly. -Songs were (obviously) shortened, which was a bummer considering the entire second half of sleep was not played. -While pricey (20 bucks), the tour poster is beautiful. -The mystery song was really, really good. It kind of sounded Middle Eastern- look out for it. -For those interested in political theory, they had a book stand with some really interesting stuff. -If you stick around after the show some of them pack up their own equipment/hang around the merch table. Really nice guys.
Personally, Moya and Static were my two favorites from the shows. Really powerful. I've always liked them from the records, but after these shows I've certainly re-discovered them.
For those who are going to the upcoming shows, enjoy!

09/27- Mogwai 09/30-10/02- ATP 10/03- Jeff Mangum 11/03- St. Vincent
It was actually Hope Drone, Gathering Storm, Monheim, Albanian, Chart #3, World Police and Friendly Fire, Rockets Fall on Rocket Falls, Moya, BBF III on wednesday and Hope Drone, Gathering Storm, Monheim, Albanian, Moya, 09-15-00 outro, Chart #3, World Police and Friendly Fire, Cowboy, and the Sad Mafioso thursday. Setlist and crowd were better wednesday, venue and sound was better thursday. I thought World Police was the set highlight both nights, as well as the two closers (BBF and SM). I also have a particular affinity for Moya, but it seemed like neither crowd gave a fuck about it. Also, the Manhattan crowd was pretty rude, getting up and walking around in the middle of quiet parts of songs. If I could combine the best elements of the two shows, it would be a Top Ten for me.
^Yeaaaa, there was a lot of crowd movement on thursday- but quite frankly, I think a lot of people from the front were moving back because of how loud it was. Then naturally people from the back moving to the front.
After seeing that show, I am really hoping that this tour is something more than a one-off, even though there is no reason to believe that. But they absolutely killed it, and the entire audience was captivated the whole time. It was incredible.
Two more days, then 40 Watt... I hope everyone else is ready, cause I sure as hell ain't!
My mind will have already been blown the previous night by Prince, then this which going by the reviews will be fucking amazing. Then 3 days to recuperate and do school, then Omar Rodriguez Lopez/Mars Volta/whateverthefuckitis Saturday night.

You know, I'm really curious what the future holds for GYBE. A Silver Mt. Zion have been anounced for ATP in New Jersey, while that's the only date I know of them playing, they're still active despite GYBE getting back together for these shows. I couln't image juggling two full-on, full-time bands. If this ASMZ show is any indication of what's to come for GYBE, I can't see too much.
However, I wouldn't be surprised to see a live album come out from this tour.
I have an extra ticket to the 40 Watt show. Actually have 2 but one already promised...if you're interested write me a 500 word essay on why you should be selected. (just kidding on the essay thing). But seriously, would love to share with an inforooster.
