Not sure about this festival. Details are very hard to find. Is it a camping deal (I see the free hot shower thing)? Not sure of size or any details though the line up looks good for $35.
Not sure why it decided to compete with the Jammin' at Hippie Jack's Festival which is right up the road, has a somewhat similar style and in it's 5th or 6th year. It seems that Billie Joe Shaver changed from Hippie Jack's to Roots Fest, which is a shame because I love Shaver and I'm going to Hippie Jack's.
Hippie Jack's is small and limited to 500 or so people each day. $50 for 4 day camping along the Obey River and some really good, if smaller, bands.

Different crowds for different fests. I do know that Billy Joe Shaver was booked at Muddy Roots first and Hippie Jack's tried to book them the day before. Turns out Billy Joe doesn't play that game.
I found this on their site.
The Muddy Roots Music Festival will be held in Cookeville TN May 28th,29th,30th of 2010 on the June Bug Boogie Ranch home of the June Bug Boogie Biker Rally held twice a year. There will be food and drink vendors available on the properties, free hot showers. The ranch is private property and has more than 50 acres to camp on at no extra charge.
Hotels available near by.

Car Show, Motorcycle competitions, Bike slow race, Strong Man competition, Strong Woman competition, Bonfire, Country Girl Pin Up pageant!
My bad. Missed the camping thing at the end of the paragraph. Also I saw Shaver listed 1st on the HJ site so just assumed he'd committed there first.
Slightly different crowds (rockabilly vs americana) and both are small fests so I guess there's no big conflict but I wouldn't mind going to both so I wish they'd not scheduled together. Good luck to both fests.
Still I can't pass up on camping on the river and listening to mountain music all weekend. So Hippie Jack, here I come.
Also didn't mean to hijack this thread with the HJ stuff, Just both are so small and of limited interest nationally, I didn't see a reason/need to start a new thread to discuss similarities. Sorry to MRF if they feel slighted.
