I can't believe they have the nerve and gall to offer tent rental for $1050. Yeah, I know the tents are *only* $700 but there is no way on earth Custies are getting their $300 deposit on a white tent back after 4 days at Bonnaroo. You can buy a top of the line tent for around $250 to $300. If you want, you can leave it in TN and still have more money in your pocket than this tent deal. When I saw this "deal" emailed to me, I couldn't help but laugh. Are people actually renting these tents?

Meh. I have no problem with the option being out there. If I had the money to fly in and not worry about the logistical stuff I guess I might spend the money. It looks pretty spacious and whatnot. It seems like a better deal than VIP to me.
That said, if I ever get to the point where I have enough of it to spend $750 on a tent rental, I think I'd rather spend the money on a couple of tix miracle to someone. Or lots of beer.
After some long drunken debates weighing the pros and cons of the tent rental deal my buddy and I elected to go this route. This will be my 5th Roo and every year previous we've gone RV style. We usually roll down with 8-12 people so the RV thing worked out great. This year it's just myself and another dude so the RV seemed a bit much. Plus I'd much rather drive down light in the comfort of my car, park right next to an already pitched tent and start throwing down. They say these are in 'close proximity to centeroo', which could be awesome depending on what that actually means. I'm hoping something near VIP or the handicapped camping area. I'm also concerned about the size of the plot they give you around the tent, I guess we'll see. As for the cost, I agree it seems a bit overpriced but it's still cheaper than RV'ing it (for me). Being the first year for the tent rental thing I figured the excitement of the unknown and the could-be-awesome potential was worth a roll of the dice.
In any case, It's Roo and it will be glorious. Keep on keepin' on.

I know of a group who cannot arrive until late on Thursday. Rather than buy a tent and 4 cots, end up a long way away, and miss most of Thursday because they are setting things up, it is worth $250 each for them to have a close tent already set up. It doesn't make sense for a lot of folks, but I think it makes sense for some situations. Considering a group of 4 would pay almost $2000 extra to go VIP, tent rental starts sounding like a deal.
I would pay a decent amount to have a guarenteed better location. I don't care enough to go VIP but I considered this for the sake of ease and the supposedly guarenteed good spot.
